@its_timbo @NowIsTurnipTime The reason they included the janky swimming section for Wilds Lagi is due to the demand that Lagiacrus should be fought underwater. I don't see how 3d positioning and more dynamic monster movement is stale just because the hunter moves worse underwater than aquatic monsters do.

@FridayNightRTer @NowIsTurnipTime I mean you look at it as arguing cause you’re a brick wall who doesn’t see past it being completely boring and stale. And please, show me these platitudes of people who actually want water combat back cause this news to me. Compared to everyone I see begging for it not to 💀

I really don’t understand this complaint tho. What kinda “mechanic” would they introduce to monsters that isn’t extremely annoying to deal with/accomplish? Prime example being DPS checks of both kinds. Breaking off certain parts or dealing enough elemental dmg
ImAMissfitZ@MHFZZEnjoyer

We don’t know much but rn I think it’s probably going to be very funny but dude when are monsters going to have something for them? Ever since 4th gen every mechanic added is for us and not the monsters.

@its_timbo @NowIsTurnipTime I think Wilds Gog is a ridiculously bad fight designed purely for a cinematic first fight entirely to the detriment of any form of replayability. So you're preaching to the choir, I agree on that front.

@FridayNightRTer @NowIsTurnipTime And I precisely agree with this. Its the main reason I dislike having to deal with Wilds Gog. Alatreon’s element DPS was WAY more manageable. Gog’s is bullshit and you can’t tell me otherwise

@its_timbo @NowIsTurnipTime I'm struggling to explain this to you. Difficulty leads to longer hunt times, yes. Making a monster take 50% less damage would also lead to a longer hunt. That's not 'difficulty' though really, is it? Difficulty = Longer Hunter Longer Hunt != Difficulty.

@FridayNightRTer @NowIsTurnipTime If one monster takes you more time to complete cause of a certain “mechanic,” then yes. That is entirely a difficulty boost. You have to deal with the dumb mechanic and make sure you deal with it correctly each time. We literally talkin the Wilds Lagi area 9 underwater part 🤣

@its_timbo @NowIsTurnipTime DPS checks aren't particularly interesting to me but I didn't hate their inclusion in Alatreon. However, part-break based things like with Fatalis is more interesting and thematic. Monsters that start 'overpowered' and are then made 'baseline' by breaking their parts.

@its_timbo @NowIsTurnipTime Also I already did provide plenty of things they could do to ensure monsters remain on par with hunters (if they MUST make hunters stronger) It's just that there's not much they can do that remains thematic to monster hunter and doesn't harm another gameplay loop.

@FridayNightRTer @NowIsTurnipTime How do I want avoid saying “make the game harder” when I literally talk about DPS checks n no one liking them… if you gonna post stupidly, read my stupid post in its entirety first. And that dudes right. Its like comparing mantles to swimming…

@Izak_Klark @its_timbo Monsters have plataued at World-level complexity. Meanwhile the Hunter has been given grappling hooks that let you throw monsters around, parkour abilities, Spider-Man bugs, the ability to freely aim attacks + dozens of high damage counter moves... and now a rocket gauntlet?

@Izak_Klark @its_timbo I don't consider that an AI improvement, and it's not improved much since World, a game where the player was given very similar improvements to their fluidity and lacked any real overpowering gimmick.

@NowIsTurnipTime @its_timbo I think the guy in the original post just doesn't know how to phrase it because he wants to avoid saying "make the game harder" because that's forbidden language or something. I agree, these aren't exactly "new mechanics" but just existing ones leveraged properly.

@FridayNightRTer @its_timbo These don’t feel in line with the whole “clutch claw boost bracer” comparison though since these should just be innate things the monsters should do already and not a “gimmick” It’s like swinging your weapon, no one is calling that a “mechanic” that’s just a thing that happens

@SoliasLuxim Monster Hunter LARPers expose themselves through their inability tolerate a disagreement on what Monster Hunter is/should be. They just post "LETS GO" and act excited for the newest thing because they treat the games as consumable 10-hour story experiences.

@SoliasLuxim @its_timbo Thanks for explaining sharpness like my request for it to "matter again" was some sort of denial of its existence, man. Sharpness existing also has to operate together with monsters having parts of their bodies that can actually bounce attacks. "But Gravio--" Shhhhhh

@SoliasLuxim @its_timbo Mizu getting "harder" when you break the face is not at all what was mentioned. Mizu's regular fight mechanics are locked behind its headbreak and the headbreak is essentially impossible to avoid since it requires like 3 hits from a SnS to break it.

@FridayNightRTer @its_timbo and when they tried to mix things up more with Wilds Mizu punishing head break, forcing it into Soul Seer enrage... people dog on it and hate it. They actively tried to introduce something that punished optimizing hitzones by making the monster faster and harder, & people whined

@FridayNightRTer @its_timbo there's dozens of examples where monsters get stronger, the difficulty changes timing to punish counters, etc. Some monsters even get triple multihit tags where they used to be a single parryable attack in their 9-10 stars to punish counters that changes ticks between rage.

@its_timbo Make changes to monster enrages so that they actually do something besides make the hunter stronger with Agitator. Or, simply... stop adding mechanics that blatantly give the hunter a power boost at zero cost? Lots of solutions if don't go "its bad and there's no way to fix it"

@its_timbo Monsters that are adapted to their local, meaning locales should be hostile to hunters and hinder them. Yes, pretty much every mechanic you add that acts as a detriment to the player will be "annoying" because the players have been turned into babies that hate friction.
