A likely once in a lifetime opportunity to be a course umpire for the World Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee on January 10. It was the equivalent of getting to be a trackside official at the Olympics and it was first time they had been held on US soil in 30+ years. We got to share the course with many the greatest distance runners in the world and spend time with some of the legends from the past such as the only American man to ever win World Cross, Craig Virgin. Many thanks to the organizers, volunteers, USATF, and World Athletics officials who dedicated countless hours to securing and preparing for this event, especially Ray Romero for making it all possible!

My sources say the new Chiefs facility will be built near K-10 and Ridgeview Road in Olathe, including a stadium for training camp practices and offices. Olathe high schools will also have access to the new stadium for sporting events. Glad the school district will get some benefit from the move!

What a week. It’s been fun but it has taken a toll. On top of the Kansas State news, the wife is dealing with aging parent issues and my eldest sister was discovered deceased inside her Emporia house so siblings are sorting out her estate. Trying to stay locked in has been rough.
