Award-winning spoken word artist Georgia Me visited Youth Village to meet with youth in the Word Up Program, sharing her journey and encouraging creative expression. Youth closed the session with a powerful recitation of Still I Rise. 🎤

JJAEP students applied geometry to real life through a hands on project, designing a scale model to improve a campus pond using symmetry and scaling. A great example of learning in action. 📐💡

Leadership Academy youth recently toured Prairie View A&M University, exploring college life and future opportunities. Experiences like this help young people envision what is possible through education. 💛 💜

Our young people at the JDC participated in a cooking and nutrition session led by Esteban Salinas and Berenice Sosa, in partnership with the @harriscountypl, exploring African plant-based traditions and healthy cooking skills.

Students at The Opportunity Center have launched their first student government, creating leadership roles, campaign posters, and election materials as they prepare for this week’s elections. A great opportunity to build leadership and civic engagement skills.

Youth at the Juvenile Detention Center showcased dance, visual art, music, stepping, and spoken word during The Art Renaissance: Black History Edition. A powerful celebration of culture, creativity, and youth voice. 🎨🎤

Our very own Robert Mottu received the Clara Pope Willoughby Award from the Texas Probation Association, recognizing his exceptional leadership and commitment to innovative youth justice strategies. 🎖️

Youth Village showcased poetry, fashion, choir, and dance during their Roots to Resilience Black History program, concluding in an inspiring message from Ms. Sydney Ealy of Twst 4 Girls. A powerful celebration of culture and growth. 🖤

Leadership Academy celebrated GED success with the theme "Rising from Roots." 🌱🎓 Five students earned their GEDs. Thank you to Kairos Prison Ministries and Mr. Fleming from Credible Messenger for supporting our youth!

Youth at the Detention Center took part in an Empowerment Workshop with the 2nd Story Project, building confidence, life skills, and positive pathways forward. 💛

We celebrated our 50th Anniversary Staff Awards, honoring the dedication and impact of team members who bring our mission to life every day. Their commitment to youth, families, and community reflects five decades of service and hope. 💛

Our young people at the Juvenile Detention Center enjoyed their annual holiday luncheon thanks to State Representative Gene Wu and Houston ReVision. 🌟 Games, laughter, and a festive meal made the day memorable! Thank you to all of our representatives and community partners for your support.

🎓 Celebrating Fall/Winter 2025 graduates at The Opportunity Center! Eleven of our students earned their GEDs, marking a significant step forward in their futures. Inspired by the theme Oh, the Places You’ll Go! and remarks from keynote speaker Maurice “Mo” Hobson. 🌟

Today, we hosted our annual holiday lunch for the kids at the Opportunity Center. Once a former juvenile detention facility, it’s now a community hub offering GED classes, job training, & services to help young people thrive outside the justice system.
