A frisson goes through journalists everywhere when one of our number is kidnapped and held hostage. Hoping @shellykittleson is soon back to reporting, as she has for years in difficult places. nytimes.com/2026/03/31/wor…

Given the extraordinary circumstances facing the country, and the responsibility we all share to get through this difficult chapter, we have decided to allow oil to flow through the Kurdistan Region’s pipeline as soon as possible.

“Success used to mean momentum and opportunity, and now it’s more about clarity(...) It’s just like, being able to work at my own pace and make decisions that I’m proud of.” The Makeup Artist on Many Celebrities’ Lips nytimes.com/2026/03/09/sty…

NEWS: The cuts were so severe that at least one department head asked to leave The Post rather than be included in the planning. Peter Finn, The Post's international editor, requested that he be laid off once he learned about the scope of the cuts to his section. nytimes.com/2026/02/04/bus…

The @WashPost has now laid off its Asia editor, its New Delhi bureau chief, its Sydney bureau chief, its Cairo bureau chief, the entire Middle East reporting team, China correspondents, Iran correspondents, Turkey correspondents, and many more. The world is becoming less America-centric by the minute while the United States is becoming more America-centric than ever. It is just a depressing yet somehow perfect summation of our current moment that one of the most important newspapers in the history of the country - one that has actually shaped the history of the United States - doesn't think reporting on the world is of any use anymore. What an utterly perfect encapsulation of where we have arrived.

Every year in Turkey, hundreds of women are recorded as having taken their lives by ‘throwing themselves from a high place’. Another word for femicide, the scourge of Turkish society: theguardian.com/society/2026/j…
