In 2017, students asked me to be the advisor for the gay-straight alliance (GSA) club. We put posters advertising the club on my door. Someone set my classroom door on fire. The burn mark remains. @StarAdvertiser you just stoked the flames of hate. My HI students deserve better.

I’m a gun owner. Do not tell me our Founders conceived of this carnage when they wrote the Constitution. Do not tell me they would have tolerated this madness. Do not tell me that teachers must be armed. And do not tell me your AR15 is worth more than another 14 children’s lives.

@NicholasFerroni So I lost my father 10 years ago at Christmas. It’s always tough. What I have found the strangest is I feel grief at the oddest times. Sometimes while reading or listening to a song that reminds me of him. I always just lean into and feel my grief. It makes me feel connected.

This is the first Christmas without my father and it has been tougher than I can handle at times, and I was wondering if anyone who has/is going through the loss of a loved one can share any advice or thoughts on coping. I have watched this clip close to a 1000 times.

@MrsR_Villanueva @Waialae I was in Mrs. Del Roaario’s fourth grade class. She was a very creative teacher. I made baskets and we made a gallery out of refrigerator boxes. I’m sorry to hear of her passing.

I say with great pride, that I teach at the very school I attended as a child. @Waialae is Hawai`i's first public charter school and home for me. I teach in Mrs. Del Rosario's former 4th grade class. She was such a sweet person. Sadly, she passed away some time ago. 1/2

And y’all know how HARD I’ve worked to bring teachers to Twitter, but the fbook teachers aren’t budging. And teacher IG just makes me feel bad about my messy, self-decorated classroom that doesn’t look like a Starbucks

So, I’d really like to be off Facebook. The challenge is, fbook is still the fastest place to organize teachers. If I need bill testimony, classroom donations, problem solving for behaviors, lesson plans, etc - teacher Facebook has my back. I like public convos. Ideas on this?

@MrsR_Villanueva @MiliLaff My assumption is because Facebook is so problematic. Especially with the spread of conspiracy and misinformation. I barely use it but I can see why so many don’t want to change. It’s pretty instinctive and easy to use.
