ND Law Prof. Jimmy Gurulรฉ and @NDLawEJC were featured in two @WISHNews8 articles on efforts to reform the use of jailhouse informant testimony in Indiana. Through legislative reform aimed to substantially reduce the risk of wrongful convictions, Prof. Gurulรฉ and the EJC continue working to advance a more just criminal justice system. A second article highlights growing support for reform, with Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears noting that the use of jailhouse informants needs to be reviewed. A bill to legalize firing squads in Indiana just failed to pass 48-46. HB1119 can be called for a revote because it did not receive a constitutional majority either way. Deadline for that would be Monday.
