A female police officer did the right thing this week and stood up to a mob of Muslim men demanding that a Christian preacher be removed from "their" area.
There's an irony in this happening in a place called Whitechapel; it doesn't seem very white or focused around a chapel.
What's notable about this incident is how the Muslim men know that hate speech laws are essentially blasphemy laws just for them, and they see their area as a Muslim area that has to abide by their rules. I thought no-go areas were a far-right myth?
It's worrying that the reason this incident stood out is that it's such a rarity for the police to enforce the law without fear or favour. We're so used to seeing the police capitulate and do whatever the "community" wants regardless of the law.
Footage later showed that it was the Christian street preacher who'd been abused and intimidated.
Hopefully this police officer will be used as the gold standard for dealing with these issues; she did an incredible job. I doubt it though. There's a precedent for persecution of Christian preachers, and I expect it to continue.

This is critical:
1. The SAVE act is overwhelmingly popular (84% across both parties)
2. The silent filibuster is a total abuse of Senate procedure, allowing 40 Senators to block the bill while literally sleeping
3. If Thune does not have the courage to at least require debate, then the SAVE Act will fail
And if it fails now, the next time the senate flips, it is very likely that voter ID will be eliminated altogether
This would result in a permanent one-party state.
