Precipitation has varied across our region this winter. Areas that need the precipitation include the Genesee Valley where moderate drought conditions persist. The upper ground may be soggy now, but without deep ground moisture vegetation can quickly dry out later this Spring.

The majority of the accumulating snowfall will come tonight across western New York, and from the second half of tonight through Wednesday east of Lake Ontario. The greatest amounts will be across the higher terrain east of both lakes.

A Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for portions of Western New York. Steady snow will continue for WNY, with some heavier snow starting this evening for areas south of Buffalo, Batavia and Rochester.

A nor'easter will advance up the Atlantic coastline this weekend, spreading light snow across WNY, and perhaps east of Lake Ontario. Greater snow totals are expected just to our south and east and if this storm tracks a little closer us, greater chances for 4 inches will occur.
