@KateMielitz Welcome to Kansas! I would love to brainstorm on bringing the financial wellness message to campuses here in Wichita.

If you don’t get a fan girl selfie with the author/keynote speaker whose books have been rocking your world for more than 30 years, are you even at an academic conference?

@drdelarocker Introduce yourself and then tell them! I got to meet someone like this and told them I was basically fan-girling…they smiled and talked with me more. And then it’s out of your system…get a panelist pic and record the presentation so you can remember it all!

Friends, I'm presenting at a fairly niche conference this summer, and I just found out that one of my co-presenters is the author of the book that got me into this niche in the first place, some 20 years ago. Any advice on how to control fan-boy flop sweats, cuz I am geeking out.

All the writing I did yesterday failed to save. I hate the entire Sharepoint/Teams/OneDrive/Office365 cluster. A plague on all their servers.

.@Delta I gotta say, your team is 🔥🔥🔥 today!! SEA to SLC, funny, engaged crew (even at 5:30 a.m.), and SLC to MCI, taking an extra moment to listen to something I wanted to share, and laughing with me. Thank you!

my husband is giving me a lecture about how 60% of my followers are probably fake & your responses to me are generated by AI & now I’m like, going to be trying to figure out who is real or not.

Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. What’s the secret? We’ve learned to let each other be who they are, to assume the best when we don’t understand, and to let our words be kind even when our hearts are not. It’s not rocket science. It’s much harder. And greater.

In his latest “Rethinking” podcast, Adam Grant talked with his guest Robin Arzón about the difference between being your “best self” vs being your “favorite self,” and it's got me thinking Your "best self" is like being the superhero 🦸🏻‍♀️ version of yourself It’s often based on societal expectations, cultural norms, and the opinions of others It’s the version of ourselves that we think will make us more successful, more attractive, or more likable It’s the version we believe we “should” be (Narrator: It was at this point she knew Adam was staring directly into her soul) But your "favorite self"? That's the version of ourselves that we truly enjoy being It’s the version of ourselves that makes us happy, fulfilled, and authentic 🥳 In today’s fast-paced world, there’s a lot of pressure to constantly strive to be our “best self” This idea is often glamorized in self-help books, social media, and motivational speeches But what if it’s not the “best” approach to your best life? What if it never gets us to the point where we feel we are truly living in the essence of our being? What if (nod to @tomowenmorgan) it deeply inhibits our creative expression?? Furthermore, our “best self” has an external locus of control It leaves us constantly comparing ourselves to others and trying to live up to external standards of success and happiness Meanwhile, our “favorite self” has an internal locus of control We can focus on our own values, passions, and desires We can stop trying to please others or live up to anyone else’s expectations and instead can focus on what truly makes us happy and fulfilled What if…striving to be our favorite self was a healthier and more sustainable approach to goal setting? What if…leading with our favorite self made us more likely to achieve our goals and live a more authentic and meaningful life? What if…embracing our quirks, passions, and all the things that make us unique lead to more opportunities to chase happiness? I know where I lean on this
