So, I got to understand clearly the specific defined roles that Commissioners Baloyi and Khumalo play as Co-Commissioners, which explains their line of questioning whenever they probe the witness. It's not just asking for the sake of asking, they are fulfilling a specific mandate. Commissioner Baloyi: Senior counsel assisting the Chairperson with legal analysis and recommendations. Commissioner Khumalo: Assists the Commission with investigative inquiries and oversight of evidentiary processes. So when Commissioner Baloyi says "Hang on, before you proceed, can I get this clear, can you please clarify, when you say..." "Can I put this proposition to you...", she's already analyzing the evidence you are presenting so that she and the other Commissioners can start thinking about the recommendations they are going to make about you and everything related to your evidence. When Commissioner Khumalo says "go to Annexure B, page 185, paragraph 4, he is zooming into the actual evidence that the Investigators have come up with and the Evidence Leaders have packaged, which he oversees. So he's thourough like that so thst he doesn't leave any stone unturned.
