We had just selected K9 Elton for one of my new handlers and were one day into training when he suffered a medical emergency. He was transported to one of the best treatment facilities in the country, but despite their best efforts, K9 Elton had to be euthanized last night. It was an extremely hard decision to make, as this dog had the fight and drive to be a LPD K9 but also the heart and loving nature to be our best friend. RIP K9 Elton. Nobody will fight you for a ball anymore. They are all yours buddy.

The closure of Melnor Road between Otis Avenue and 56th Street will now remain in place through Thursday, February 26, 2026 due to forecasted high wind gusts. Construction crews are working to complete crane operations as quickly and safely as possible.

Storms are starting to develop to the just to the SW and S of central Indiana. Hail is the great threat initially but damaging winds and tornadoes will be possible as the day goes on. Best threat for severe weather will be 3 PM to 8PM. Pay attention to the weather today! #INwx

Snow is surging northeast/east across Indiana with light accumulations reported. Visibilities have dropped to as low as 1/4 mile in far southwest Indiana, and cold temperatures will limit treatment effectiveness—leading to quick accumulations and slippery conditions.

Here we go, Indy. Cold temps are here, and significant snowfall is expected later today. Be prepared and know what number to call to get the services you need.

While out getting fuel, Engine 37 C-shift, noticed someone with a flat tire. Without hesitation the crew assisted with getting the tire changed and the individual back on their way.

A line of strong to severe storms is expected this evening with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes being the main threats. Winds of 50+ mph also expected outside of storms this evening. Make sure to have a way of receiving weather watches and warnings! #INwx
