Construction has begun on Qiddiya Speed Park's elevated corner, which will be as high as a 20 storey building when finished 😮 The circuit is planned to host the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix from 2028 onwards, replacing the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

The 2026 Canadian GP will be the first one since I started going in 1980 that I will not attend. Just fed up with the direction of these 2026 regs and Liberty Media putting “influencers” & “entertainment” above the sport that I love.

Happy #MercedesMonday y'all Rudolf Uhlenhaut's Masterpiece Hans Hermann - Mercedes Benz W196 Streamliner M196 L8 2.5. 1954 French Grand Prix,Reims-Gueux. Imo,still, the most beautiful #F1 car ever build. The W196's delayed debut at the 1954 French Grand Prix saw the introduction of the aerodynamic closed-wheel aluminium "Type Monza" streamliner body for the high speed track at Reims. Juan Manuel Fangio and Karl Kling claimed a 1–2 finish, and Hans Herrmann set the fastest lap. 📸 bernard Cahier #RetroF1

Good morning y'all 🙋🏾‍♂️🌞 Jacques Lafitte - Ligier JS11/15 Ford -Cosworth DFV V8 3.0. 1980 British Grand Prix,Brands Hatch. The JS11/15 was designed by Gérard Ducarouge,it competed during the 1979/1980 World Championship and proved to be competitive. The car faced problems after four races into the 1979 season, the car was too efficiënt at producing downforce, that the aluminium chassis simply could not handle the amount of downforce. The chassis started to flex and the skirts lift of the ground. For 1980, the JS11 was updated with improved aerodynamics and better ground effects.  To solve the issues with the increased downforce, Gérard Ducarouge came up with a solution, dubbed the "clapet" (French for "valve"), where in a series of flaps within the venturi tunnels would open up at after a certain amount of pressure. As the solution constituted a movable aerodynamic device, the team did its best to keep the existence of the system a secret. The existence of the system was eventually discovered by F1 technical illustrator Giorgio Piola during the final race of the 1980 season at Watkins Glen. Piola was able to take photographs of the system after one of the two cars entered by Ligier was being repaired after a shunt. #F1 #RetroF1
