In my opinion, I think this twist would've made Halo just another boring Sci-Fi where humanity is actually the super secret ultra awesome best race in the universe responsible for all good and cool things.

Im so glad they never went with this plot thread. I semi dislike recent halo lore where humanity was on the same level as the forerunners.
It’s more interesting to have this highly intelligent species before our time, showing that all life is just a blip in the universe
