Arsenal should swallow their pride and set sentiment aside to resign Granit Xhaka. No midfielder in the Premier League is better than Granit Xhaka. If the FA had been fair to him, they would have nominated and rewarded him ahead of Bruno Fernandes. Fernandes only took Manchester United from 7th to 3rd place, just a 4 step position improvement, he didn't win any title and people wanted to put him in the Ballon d'Or conversation. Granit Xhaka took his new entrant team Sunderland with rare quality players from EFL straight to Europe, yet people remain quiet about his achievements. He is one of the most underrated players in the Premier League this past season. At his age, you cannot compare his quality and consistency to players like Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, who have been given huge market valuations. If we are being fair, neither is at Granit Xhaka's level. If Arsenal are serious about defending the title next season, they need players who are ready to push the team with proven quality at the highest level. If I were Mikel Arteta, I would swallow my pride and put sentiment aside to bring him back on a one year deal with an option to extend. We desperately need to defend the title and I don't think either of Mateus or Tonali can quickly adapt to. Xhaka is ready to take us to the highest level. He already has his coaching badges and could even join the coaching staff to continue learning if he is no longer able to play at the same level in the coming years. Who knows? He could even succeed Arteta in the future. Arsenal should bring Granit Xhaka back on a one year deal, and I believe we would never regret it.
