The club has essentially been cleaned out in the last three years. He has driven that.

@MattyEssFM @PeterBremner3 Melbourne started with their defence, which you need to do as a priority. North haven’t done that, neither has Essendon nor Richmond. He deserves zero admiration cos he hasn’t implemented anything of worth. They will need a clean out in another 3 years, it’s obvious to see.

@deeceepee80 @PeterBremner3 Melbourne were able to do it, I see a lot of traits of where Essendon now are to where Melbourne were around 10 years ago.
Scott has essentially done what Roos did. I don’t think he will get the same admiration, but the clean out has been happening for three years.

@MattyEssFM @PeterBremner3 I am saying Hird isn’t needed to even sell the rebuilding strategy. Blind Freddy can see it’s a rebuild. The issue is finding a coach who is capable of successfully leading a rebuild. Not many get through it. Once you start, it’s a perpetual rebuild.

@MattyEssFM @PeterBremner3 I think the fans have accepted a rebuild but who is good enough to actually implement it? Hird is not a rebuilding coach, he will want to be there when they are contending. Like Dimma, he didn’t wanna sit thru 10 years of rebuilding Tigers so went to contending GC.

With the changes in the rules around F/S next year, being able to stock up picks in order to get Bewick, who will go probs 1/2 in an open draft is important.
