New Mexico, it’s time for a new direction. I’m Ken Miyagishima, and for 16 years, I had the honor of serving as the Mayor of Las Cruces. During that time, I learned that real leadership isn’t about following a party line—it’s about delivering results for the people. That is why I have officially filed to run as an Independent candidate for Governor of New Mexico, alongside my running mate, JC Lopez for Lieutenant Governor. To get on the ballot and give you a real choice this November, we need your help today. 🖋️ Why We Need Your Signature As Independent candidates, the law requires us to collect thousands of signatures from voters across the state to qualify for the ballot. This is where you come in. By signing our petitions, you aren’t necessarily committing to vote for us—you are simply saying that Independent voices deserve a place at the table. ⚖️ The Importance of Signing BOTH In New Mexico, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor run as a team. To ensure our movement for a safer, more affordable New Mexico is successful, it is vital that you sign both petitions: one for myself and one for JC Lopez. 🗳️ Who Can Sign? The best part? This isn’t restricted by party. Any registered voter in New Mexico can sign. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Independent, or Libertarian, your signature counts. Signing our petition does not affect your party affiliation or your ability to vote in the primary for other offices. 🚀 What We Stand For We are running to tackle the "catch and release" cycle in our justice system, reform medical malpractice laws to keep our doctors in the state, and reduce the cost of housing construction by 25%. We are focused on New Mexico's future, not Washington D.C. politics. Will you help us make history? Let’s show the establishment that New Mexicans are ready for a leadership team that puts people over politics. Please follow the links to our ballot petitions. …ctronicpetitions.elections.sos.nm.gov/ken-miyagishim… …ctronicpetitions.elections.sos.nm.gov/jose-lopez

🚀 🌔 Today’s Artemis launch is a big deal for the U.S. and the future of space exploration. For the first time in over 50 years, Americans are heading back to the Moon, taking a huge step toward having a permanent presence beyond Earth. But this isn’t just about going to space—it’s also about jobs, innovation, and leadership right here at home. States like New Mexico have a great chance to be part of this new space economy, thanks to our top-notch labs, growing aerospace industry, and Spaceport America. As governor, I’ll make sure New Mexico isn’t left behind but is actually leading the charge in this new frontier. This means creating high-paying jobs, boosting STEM education, and making our state a leader in industries that will shape the future. America is reaching for the stars again, and New Mexico should be right there at the forefront!

Today is February 19th, a day that carries a heavy weight for my family and for thousands of others across this country. It is the Day of Remembrance, marking the anniversary of Executive Order 9066, which led to the forced relocation and incarceration of over 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II. For many, this is a chapter in a history book. For me, it’s a story I carry in my DNA. In 1942, my father, Mike Kazuji Miyagishima, was just a child when he was taken from his home and sent to the Poston Internment Camp in Arizona. He spent four years of his youth behind barbed wire—not because of anything he had done, but because of how he looked and where his ancestors came from. When I think about my father’s journey—from the confines of a camp to serving honorably in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years—I am struck by the incredible resilience of the human spirit. He didn't let that injustice embitter him; instead, he taught me that the American dream belongs to everyone, provided we have the courage to protect the civil liberties that sustain it. New Mexico has its own complicated role in this history, housing camps in Santa Fe, Fort Stanton, Lordsburg, and Raton. We must remember these sites not to dwell on the past, but to ensure we never repeat its mistakes. As I run for Governor of New Mexico as an Independent, I do so with the lessons of my father’s life at the forefront of my mind: • Results over Labels: My father was judged by a label, not his character. In government, we must stop looking at party lines and start looking at the people we serve. • Protecting Rights: We must be vigilant against the "war hysteria" and prejudice that once clouded our judgment. Leadership means standing up for the constitutional rights of every New Mexican. • Unity: Our state is a beautiful tapestry of cultures—Japanese, Mexican, Indigenous, and beyond. Our strength is in our ability to lead together, moving past the divisiveness of modern politics. Today, let’s honor the survivors and the families who lost everything. Let’s commit to a future where "Never Again" is not just a phrase, but a promise kept by those in power.

I’m running as an independent because New Mexico deserves leadership accountable to people, not party machinery. If we want different results, we have to challenge a system that isn’t delivering. Here’s why I’m stepping forward and how we can govern differently. nmsuroundup.com/31725/showcase…
