İstanbul Boğazı'nda 9 Yelkovan Kuşu'na Daha Uydu Vericisi Takıldı! Geçtiğimiz hafta, CIESM tarafından İstanbul Boğazı’nda düzenlenen yelkovan kuşunun (Puffinus yelkouan) göç hareketlerini izlemek için düzenlenen ikinci görev başarıyla tamamlandı. CIESM (Akdeniz Bilim Komisyonu) Biyoçeşitlilik Başkanı Loriane Mendez'in liderliğinde gerçekleştirilen görev, Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Çevre Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Türk Deniz Araştırmaları Vakfı (TUDAV), Ben Metzger (Malta'dan bağımsız uzman) ve Romanya'dan (Agigea Kuş Gözlemevi ve Bükreş Biyoloji Enstitüsü) uzmanlar ile yakın işbirliği içinde yürütüldü. Vakfımız kurucularından Asaf Ertan'ın 30 yıl önce geliştirdiği, iki tekne arasına ağ gerilerek, İstanbul Boğazı'nı geçen bireylere dokuz adet GPS-GSM cihazı başarıyla yerleştirildi. Geçen yılki çalışmada olduğu gibi kuşların sırt tüylerine bağlanan vericiler, tüy değişimleriyle beraber düşene kadar yaklaşık 2 ay boyunca konum bilgisi iletecek. Böylelikle bu eşsiz ve tehlike altında olan türün göç yolları ve üreme kolonileri hakkında bilgiler edinilecek. Proje Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation desteği ile gerçekleşti. Elde edilen veriler yakında CIESM’in websitesinde yayınlanacak.
