Researchers led by Prof. Alexandre Rosado (@Rosado_AS) have developed a Planetary Simulation Chamber that recreates key planetary stressors, including vacuum, custom atmospheres, UV radiation, and temperature cycling, all within a single controlled system. This platform allows scientists to explore how biology, materials, and technologies perform under Moon- and Mars-like conditions, while also simulating future Earth extremes driven by climate change. Its impact goes far beyond space. The same experiments can support work on climate-resilient plants, beneficial microbes, durable materials, and next-generation biotechnologies, helping turn research into practical, real-world solutions. The chamber also enables thesis projects and hands-on experimentation for students, strengthening Saudi-based research capability. Designed as a partnership-ready national asset, it supports engagement with national and international space research organizations. In short: we are not just preparing for space exploration.
