In reality, most serial killers were very low IQ, motivated primarily by mental illness and poor impulse control, and only got away due to terrible police work and lack of technology. Almost all serial killers in real life weren’t leaving behind bible verses as clues to their next victim, they were actually rather mundane, boring criminals with uncontrolled fetishes.
