I proudly stand in solidarity with @massteacher educators striking for living wages, paid family and medical leave, and safe schools. There is no more important work than educating our young people and it is unacceptable that these educators are paid as little as $20,000 a year.

@BeckyPringle So proud to be with @Becky Pringle as she joined other national labor leaders, including AFT President Randi Weingarten, in support of debt-free, high-quality higher education. This is an important moment of solidarity for unions representing higher education workers.

Congratulations @NewtonTeachers on your tentative agreement. When we fight, we win—and you fought hard for this victory. I am glad that come Monday morning students will be back in class with the dedicated educators, paraprofessionals, and employees of the Newton public schools.

Teacher strikes are illegal in Massachusetts, but Newton teachers were out of options. So they walked out. They’ve been on strike for a week and the union has been fined $375,000. Today's fine could be $400,000, and next week that number could be in the millions.
