Missed this previously (HT to ⁦@MaryMyatt):⁩ “I know what my friend Tim would have said about the curriculum & assessment review. We talked about the need for it often,” says Mick Waters. And note the ‘forgotten third’ centre-stage … schoolsweek.co.uk/unfinished-bus…

@Sue_Cowley ...and very good ones too. Got me through my first year of teaching 20 years ago and I'm now recommending it to my teaching students. It's still just as relevant.

I'm going to phrase this very carefully so my notifications don't end up a bin fire. There is something a bit odd in seeing a profession that has a workforce with a majority of women so often being told how to do their job by high profile men.

@Headteacherchat You sound as if you have plenty of experience, it depends if you want it though. It can take a while to get used to the fact that everything stops with you and sometimes that weighs heavily. If you haven't already done one, I highly recommend doing an NPQH.

Anon post: Hi everyone, I'm a 42-year-old deputy headteacher with 18 years of experience in the education sector. I've spent the last 7 years as a deputy, and prior to that, I held senior leadership positions for 5 years where I was responsible for strategic planning, staff mentoring, and implementing new assessment strategies. The question is: Am I ready to take on the role of a head?

What strategies were successful in turning around staff morale and fostering a more positive, fulfilling work environment? The negativity is impacting our whole school community, and I want to change that.

Anon post I'm a new headteacher, excited about leading a positive transformation within our community. We're facing challenges – overdue Ofsted inspection, vulnerable position, low staff morale – but I'm determined to create a supportive, uplifting environment.

Geoff Barton is absolutely on the money in this article on the inspection process - I actually think Ofsted gets it, but does Gillian Keegan and the DfE? ascl.org.uk/BlogOfstedCham…

Posting this again as the fallacy that teachers in disadvantaged schools are not as good is being trotted out again. Spent my career in disadvantaged schools and worked with so many extraordinary teachers, teachers who were properly BOTHERED! smithsmm.wordpress.com/2021/06/26/the…

What a privilege to hear from and speak with @katrionaos this afternoon - I am beyond inspired - "when someone has unwavering belief in you, it is transformational" - as the tik tok kids say - walk don't run to the book shop and buy this absolute belter! @HFL_Education

@Missymusician81 @neileley We would welcome your loud music in our school. Take heart, there are leaders out there who really value music and search hard for people like you to champion it.
