This day, I was among the first to return to my city, Beit Hanoun. I walked for dozens of kilometers on foot until I could no longer feel my feet from exhaustion. But the longing for home overcame the fatigue and extreme weariness. A Timeline of a Killing Over eight hours. This wasn’t chaos. It was a sequence: 2:45 - Israeli Strike hits the car ahead. 3:15 - Her car targeted as she tries to withdraw. 4:27 - Shelter struck from the air. Contact lost. Then silence. Rescue delayed. Ambulances targeted. 6:15–6:30 - Permission to enter granted, then obstructed. No equipment allowed in. 8:00 - Search finally begins. 11:08 - Amal Khalil’s body found under the rubble. They knew she was a journalist. She was still targeted.

From an interview conducted by Alafdal TV with journalist Zeinab Hajar, who was with Amal Khalil the day they were both intentionally targeted by Israel, resulting in Amal being killed. We felt the danger because there was heavy aerial activity concentrated above us; there were drones and MKs. Suddenly, they fired a missile at Amal’s car. Amal was hurt, and debris from the car started flying at us. Amal moved closer to hug me, and we embraced each other, but the car fire intensified. Amal’s back began to burn because she was embracing me, with her back turned. When she told me, "Zeinab, I’m burning," I grabbed her by her jacket and pulled her into my spot, putting my own back to the car. Amal was bleeding and wounded and began to catch fire from the car’s flames. I protected her with my body, pulled the car’s bumper over us to cover ourselves, but I couldn't hold on; I was burning. I don’t know where God gave me the strength to tear down the garage door behind me. I didn’t just lift it; I ripped it off with my hands, I don’t even know how. Amal crawled inside. She was trying to contact them to come and help, but they couldn't. Amal crawled in and I followed her. We huddled together; her whole hand was burnt by the end. We sat there. Amal was exhausted and bleeding. She leaned in to hug me and said, "Don’t leave me." Finally, I told her, "Amal, I’m drowsy, I want to sleep." I don’t know what happened; a long time passed. I started to drift off while Amal sat beside me. I began to fall asleep, and Amal was sitting next to me on the floor. Both of our phones died. I woke up as the Israeli missile was coming down on us. I don't remember anything else except the last moment I saw Amal; I knew then that Amal was gone."
