#NPPW26 National Poison Prevention Week reminds us all to protect young children by keeping toxic substances including nicotine pouches locked up and away from children. 🍓Oral nicotine pouches sold in bright packaging, with minty & fruity flavors, can look like candy to kids. Nicotine is highly toxic and risks of exposure are higher for young children. 📞 As use of these pouches has grown, so has the number of calls to the Oregon Poison Center about children with nicotine poisoning from exposure to pouches. From 2020 to 2024, the number of calls about nicotine pouch exposure went up 356% and in most cases were about children under 6. 🚨 If a child may have ingested a nicotine pouch or any toxin, call the Oregon Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222. Despite misperceptions, nicotine pouches are not recommended as a tool for quitting tobacco use. If you or someone you know is ready to quit using tobacco/nicotine products, visit smokefreeoregon.co/Im-ready-to-qu….

💝 When harm touches most people at some point, it’s no longer about individual hurt—it’s a shared reality. Gambling-related harm shows up in different ways, at different moments, across our communities. That’s why stigma and assumptions get in the way of real support. Understanding the scope helps us respond with empathy instead of judgment. Awareness changes how we respond, and how we respond shapes our communities’ future: Caring Communities, Stronger Futures. 📞 If you need help with taking a break, cutting down, or quitting gambling, call the Oregon Problem Gambling Help Line at 1-877-MY- LIMIT. Confidential and free services are available to all Oregonians, including those impacted by someone else’s gambling. #PGAM2026 #CaringCommunitiesStrongerFutures #ProblemGamblingAwareness #EndTheStigma
