@darrenpjones @UKLabour This is nonsense on stilts. You lost it as soon as you started on Brexit.

@rorymkirkwood "Morgan McSweeney did not use disappearing messages. If they're not there it's because he deleted them", is a pretty simple concept.

Strange that after everything that's been written the past few days, people are still misunderstanding the basic facts. The issue is not that McSweeney had disappearing messages on his work mobile. His work messages were lost because his phone was "stolen" and the messages were wiped. Nor, despite reports, did he set them as default on the personal mobiles he used for work purposes. And in any case, there is supposed to be a record kept of all messages relating to Government business.

'Do you use disappearing messages on WhatsApp?' Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch tells @paulbrandITV that she doesn't use disappearing messages on WhatsApp on her work phone.

JUDICIAL REVIEW UPDATE: Later today (Tuesday) we should learn whether the Chagossians can remain on their islands. This is more than a legal case - it’s about justice, dignity, and the right to return. Misley Mandarin and his team are honouring their ancestors, restoring graves, living sustainably, and proving that community and stewardship go hand in hand. Let this be the moment the law chooses what is right. One brave step for the Chagossians, one long-overdue step toward justice. Here’s hoping for a victory.

It has been a very fruitful visit to the Middle East and the Gulf region. We already have landmark agreements with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. We are also working with Jordan and Kuwait.
Rustem Umerov is currently in the region, continuing political-level negotiations – he reported to me today – and there are already additional requests from Bahrain and Oman.
For Ukraine, this is not only a matter of prestige and respect for our people; it is a very practical matter. We are exporting our system of protection, the skills of our warriors, the knowledge that our state possesses. And from these partner countries we expect reciprocal security engagement.
We have already agreed on opportunities to strengthen air defense, on the joint development of defense production, and on energy cooperation, including diesel and other critical supplies that we need right now.

From reading Paul Holden's statement, the BBC does seem to be guilty of very shoddy journalism here. Whoever the most senior person is in the BBC right now, they need to get a grip on this story at once - today, Monday - no faffing around.
Peter Oborne@OborneTweets
A shocking statement from Paul Holden. Both Laura Kuenssberg and the BBC have serious questions to answer and owe Mr Holden at the very least an apology.

#BREAK Judge REJECTS government’s attempt to dismiss the #megaembassy Judicial Review!
Also relying on national security considerations to avoid disclosure.

Every single person involved across every single organisation FAILED.
They continue to fail.
Cannot and will not admit their failures.
They dig their heels in, align their stories, and perform with arrogance, denial and hostility.
Do they realise, or even care about the impact of their actions?
I hope they can see how it is finally being played out for the public and state to see.
Shameful.

The entire public sector took a very high profile, triple murder+mass casualty incident and seemed to use it as an opportunity to torment the victims and their families. Just stunning. Claire Thompson should be in jail

US think tank: The UK government has accepted an ambitious and necessary vision for British defense, promised to deliver it at what it called a “wartime pace,” and then spent the better part of two years producing nothing of substance. There are no significant program commitments, no major modernization announcements, and no serious investment decisions. fpri.org/article/2026/0…

As @KemiBadenoch says, why didn't McSweeney tell police he worked at No. 10? The phone could have been stolen by a Russian or Chinese intelligence operative, then what? Very fishy. Starmer's desperate to move on from Mandelson, but it's not going away.

Ed Miliband has decreed that imported electricity will count as being as 'clean' as wind and solar even when it comes from burning coal and gas, in a move critics have branded "cheating" and "bonkers". dailysceptic.org/2026/03/30/mil…

@IranIntl_En Just seen film on x allegedly showing police forcibly removing him from his office. Clarity on this is important: Irsael cited his continued presence as a real concern & a demonstration of the impotence of the Lebanese authorities when it comes to implementing their decisions.

Iran said on Monday its ambassador to Lebanon would remain in Beirut despite a Lebanese order to leave, turning a diplomatic reprimand into a broader test of how far the Lebanese state can push back when its decisions collide with the interests of Tehran and Hezbollah.
