@ThatNumerouno @Gtryenb @th_anonymouse That's some nonsense primitive shit. That ain't gonna win you no war or bring any glory. It's only bringing shame and rightfully so. Can't do whatever in the name of tradition. Sometimes you just gotta use that goddamn brain.

@Gtryenb @th_anonymouse Koi 40 ka nahi peeta, shadi ke time ka ritual hai, war time pe bhi, it's considered auspicious as the man is stepping into the adult phase ending his childhood. Nowadays no one does that, the mother just offers milk in a glass.

He is IPS Bishnoi . He got married recently. This is the video of him glorifying some shitty tradition . He has the power to dismantle all this shit. Imagine wearing a uniform to uphold patriarchy. You don’t get to wear a uniform and then defend misogyny as culture. If power doesn’t dismantle harmful practices, it protects them. But he chose to glorify that shit because it pleases misogyny.

@SwiftLitLover @KantInEastt Ricky bahl, befikre, rocky aur rani??? Did a fun cameo in Bads. I just meant he has shown his appreciation for an industry senior is his films and irl. This lame ass vs narrative of op is ridiculous. I didn't accuse him of plagiarism or something. No need 2 get agitated over it.

@ObserverO21 @KantInEastt Band bajaa baarat is his first film. And he is not the writer. Yrf has worked extensively with srk so they referenced him in a comedic scene. That proves nothing Also in decades long career and countless films if u can only mention srk reference in 2 films that too in the writing

@ObserverO21 @KantInEastt Their is no srk role like khilji from padmaavat. In fact none like bajirao, ram, even 83 or gully boy. Ranveer's filmography is completely unique of any mainstream actors's. I agree that the op was unnecessary for bringing up srk because srk is iconic but don't lie on ranveer.

@manish0502 @lenrox @SaffronQueen_ Because all Hindus don't celebrate the same festivals. There are region specific festivals. Even Holi is not that big of a deal in South India. What about it? And every state has like at least a dozen holidays for Hindu festivals.

Satyajit Ray is highly overrated. He had open contempt for our cultural heritage and deeper inferiority complex before the white skin. Sans his political contacts, not one of his movies would've been released.
Samyak Ghosh 🌈@GhoshSamyak

Can Dhurandhar Dhar create a single frame like any of these?! Unrelated, but can’t help but notice that 1963-64 was Ray’s years in world cinema. Mahanagar & Charulata were released successively. Today clowns are talking about Dhurandar 1&2. Absolute degeneracy!

Beautiful rendition of the National Anthems of India and Bangladesh (both penned by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore) by a bangladeshi ensemble this evening. Artists included the iconic Flute maestro Jalal Ahmed, percussionist Mithun Das, celebrated bass guitarist Basking Pavel , music director Jahid Nirob and Ayesha Moushumi who can not speak Hindi but sang Jana Gana Mana perfectly. @hamidullah_riaz @bdhc_delhi @ihcdhaka

@dharmadispatch Spot on. Satyajit Ray produced poverty porn. The communists & socialists went overboard to promote his films as they aligned with their agenda. Today these clowns 🤡 have a heartburn to see a rising India that exhibits its strength. These clowns 🤡 are frozen in time.

@hamsanandi @I_AM_JITT @dharmadispatch Slow is the requirement for those stories. He's done 29 feature films of different genres. Try his urban stories. Nayak, Jana Aranya, Aranyer din ratri, Agantuk. They're rewarding experiences.

@I_AM_JITT @iamagoodman321 @dharmadispatch Jalsaghar, Jana Aranya, Agantuk, Nayak, Aranyer din ratri, Pratidwandi, Mahanagar. You watch these films and think they're exploiting poverty and not beautiful human dramas documenting the times n society he lived in? The have-nots are just too disgusting to be shown in cinema.

@iamagoodman321 @dharmadispatch I've grown up watching his movies. Some are brilliant (Satranj ki Khiladi for example). But most of his films (those earned fame for him) are based on striving stories of lower middle class.

I don't like Bhadralok's hysterical defence of Satyajit Ray but calling Ray's movies poverty porn is quite unintelligent and stupid. You people say that as there was so much growth & prosperity porn that could have been shown instead in his times. Jab poora desh poverty mein dooba tha to ek realist artist poverty hi to dikhayega. Shrilal Shukla did the same in Rag Darbari, Premchand did the same in his novels. No sensitive person could have ignored it the blatantly obvious poverty that permeated every pore of this nation's body. I have not seen much of Ray's work. I saw only Shatranj ke Khiladi which I found very entertaining. That movie was about decadent opulence of Awadh nobility, not about poverty. I saw a few scenes from one of the appu trilogy movies, can't remember which one, and it was nice. There were scenes about a little village boy reuniting with his father iirc.
Saiswaroopa Iyer@Sai_swaroopa

Wrong comparison. And Wrong match of expectations too. Bengali Cinema did have a lot of influence on early Telugu Cinema but here, the early film makers down here adapted those narratives to build rooted versions while also weaving logical closures and denouements. You show a story that's intrinsically inspiring and not depressing. Satyajit Ray sadly showcases poverty porn though something about him has to be good for all the hype I guess. May be it is more of the character driven thing which suits the typical elite brooding but not an aspirant's hunger for inspiration. Elite watch art films to patronise and support art. For the middle class, Cinema is an investment of time and money for their own rejuvenation. So the RoI has to speak better than some reflections and vignettes. Themes of espionage is all about a character growing out of his personal survival crisis to stand for something larger than himself. Dhurandhar here feels like a good RoI for the effort put in. Not to belittle Ray's film making but I don't think I would pay and drive to a theatre to invest my weekend to see poor kids stare at a train in remote historical India. That's more for some laid back watching if time and mood permit.
