I was deeply moved by #Shardlake on @DisneyPlusUK. It's uplifting to see severe #scoliosis depicted in a positive light and challenging the use of abusive terms like "hunchback." It's great to see us depicted as quick-witted heroes rather than recluses swinging from the rafters!

One of my readers/followers on FB pointed out to me that my article on disability and Shardlake featured in HistoryExtra. I had no idea where it was published, here it is: historyextra.com/period/tudor/d…

#InternationalAsexualityDay aims to celebrate, raise awareness and advocate for #Ace identities. 'Ace' is an umbrella term that describes a spectrum of sexual identities where a person experiences a lack of, varying or occasional sexual attraction. 💜

The level of sexual aggression I witnessed while living in India for several years was unlike anywhere else I have ever been. Once a total stranger, a British woman, asked to sleep in my bed and pretend to be my girlfriend on a train ride because a man walking by in the hall had licked her foot and she felt unsafe. I introduced a female friend to a young Indian man and instead of shaking her hand, he groped her breast, and when she became angry he became extremely hostile and I thought I was going to have to fight the guy. I never met a female traveler who had not been groped or assaulted or worse, even if they had only been in country for mere days. I love India. It is and always will be one of my favorite places in the world. But I have advised female friends who asked me not to travel there alone. This is a real problem in Indian society that warrants more attention and that I hope will improve in time.

India is the rape capital of the world. Reporting to a corrupt police force is pointless. Rapists are often pardoned by the government which has in its midst many rapists. It’s time to accept the reality of India.
Rekha Sharma@sharmarekha

Did you ever report the incident to Police? If not than you are totally an irresponsible person. Writing only on social media and defaming whole country is not good choice.

Following the horrific gang rape of Brazilian citizen Fernanda by 8 Indian men in Jharkhand, there has been all manner of rape apologism, whataboutery, and victim blaming and shaming used to whitewash, minimise and excuse India’s position as rape capital of the world, coming from Indian politicians, high ranking government employees, and social media handles. What excuses will they give for the rape and murder of a 7 year old? Is it her clothing, her behaviour, or her actions they will blame? India is not safe for women.
