@OriginalGrogna1 It wasn't bad at all. Together with AD&D, this is my favorite edition. It makes things easy for GM, combat rules were exceptional and the mechanics were really nice. It has its flaws, but it does not deserve the hate it gets at all. It's main sin was that it was different.

@GoodGameWren Not sure about last 4 decades, but KCD and KCD2 are definitely among the best RPGs of all time. Way better than BG3, Witcher games or other overhyped titles.

@CT_Phipps @elvenmaidinn @OwlcatGames As someone who owns more than half of all Forgotten Realms books ever published - this is not true. While there might be some "horny fantasy" types of books, the vast majority is far from it.

@elvenmaidinn @OwlcatGames I mean it is not trying to be dark fantasy, Illithids aside. It's the Forgotten Realms, which has always been horny fantasy.

Last week I started re-playing Baldur's Gate 3... I said in the past that I feel like Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 are far more superiors games, I said that Icewind Dale is superior game. I also said that @OwlcatGames like Pathfinder Kingsmaker, WotR and Rogue Trader are superior games... And I stand with that statement... BG3 feel even worse while playing after a year... Its not Heroic Fantasy, its not Dark Fantasy, its not Grimdark Fantasy... Its just... Sparkle Fantasy or Horny Fantasy...

@elvenmaidinn @OwlcatGames I haven't played BG3, but I simply have not interest in playing it - I feel like that story has been told, at least for me.

@EaterOfBrushes I recognize the work of Adrian Smith and Karl Kopinski - they (together with a few other artists) are people who defined artistic approach for both WHBF and 40K. I know there are some talented people working for GW today - but I suspect slapping photos on the box is cheaper.

Hot take… Games workshop should bring back box art for their models! It was such hype to see these boxes back in the day! I get you should see the Product but at the same time the art looks so good. Bring them back! Please oh please!

@AstropunkComic @Lunaricide @DungeonNoir Finally someone to say this - exploration of author importing his failed experiences of courting a woman! This is exactly what it is, with a bit of Harry Potter sprinkled on top.

@Lunaricide @DungeonNoir None of the characters are interesting. It’s an exploration of Patrick Rothfuss importing his failed experiences at courting a woman who never loved him for two books. Kvothe and Denna are two of the most annoying and genuinely unlikable characters I’ve ever read.

Should I start a series that will probable never be completed?

@DungeonNoir No, don't bother with this. This is overhyped series about an overpowered character without any flaws. Story is paper-thin, the worldbuilding is almost non-existing. There's much better fantasy out there. For people who are praising the prose - you should read more.

Has this hobby become a mockery of itself? I got into D&D because I like dragons and knights and castles and towers, and old maps and trees and forest beasts, and hobbits and magic rings. Does anyone care about that anymore? Everything seems twisted around somehow. Where has your imagination gone, your sense of wonder that made you want to play these games to begin with? Surely something can save you yet!
