Folks, I am making my Redis Internals course available on YouTube. Every Saturday and Sunday, one new video drops, going deep into how Redis actually works - not slides and theory, but real implementation in Golang. Two videos are already out, and today I am releasing the 3rd video of the series. In total, there are 26 videos, and every single one is super practical, where I will actually walk you through the theory and source code to implement all the features of Redis, like data structures, transactions, pipelines, etc. The third video is live now, and it talks about Redis's wire protocol. RESP is the wire protocol every Redis client uses to talk to the Redis server. Understanding it means you understand the boundary between your application and Redis at the byte level, literally. Give it a watch. 3 videos are out now: 1. Why Single-Threaded Redis Is Fast 2. TCP Echo Server - Step 0 to Build Your Own Redis 3. Implementing Redis Wire Protocol - RESP If you have ever wanted to understand what happens inside a database rather than just how to use one, give it a watch and follow along.

Conversations tend to go better with a face and a voice. That’s why we’re thrilled to release the beta version of the first video chat skill for ANY agent, powered by our new real-time model, PikaStream1.0. The skill preserves memory and personality, and enables real-time adaptability. And if you use it with your Pika AI Self, they’ll be able to execute agentic tasks during the call 💅

axios 1.14.1 has been compromised by yet another supply chain attack. startups are fked
Feross@feross

🚨 CRITICAL: Active supply chain attack on axios -- one of npm's most depended-on packages. The latest axios@1.14.1 now pulls in plain-crypto-js@4.2.1, a package that did not exist before today. This is a live compromise. This is textbook supply chain installer malware. axios has 100M+ weekly downloads. Every npm install pulling the latest version is potentially compromised right now. Socket AI analysis confirms this is malware. plain-crypto-js is an obfuscated dropper/loader that: • Deobfuscates embedded payloads and operational strings at runtime • Dynamically loads fs, os, and execSync to evade static analysis • Executes decoded shell commands • Stages and copies payload files into OS temp and Windows ProgramData directories • Deletes and renames artifacts post-execution to destroy forensic evidence If you use axios, pin your version immediately and audit your lockfiles. Do not upgrade.

My lawyers FINALLY gave me permission to spill the beans... 9 months ago we announced that our dorm room startup @styl_app was acquired by an AI research lab run by our "childhood hero". Today, we're proud to reveal that this was none other than @SebastianThrun: the founder of Google X, Waymo, and Udacity. We founded Styl with the vision that swiping is a great UX primitive to collect data. From February to December 2024, our ~150k users swiped 30M+ times on a dataset of <100k items. This is likely the most dense shopping data in the world, and I'm so excited for Sebastian to disrupt yet another industry. On a personal front, I've moved back home. The dream is to build a generational Consumer AI company for the world from India, and I'm hacking away with @shruthibadri. We want to build the most high-density talent team the nation has ever seen; if you know engineers or designers we should chat with, please send them our way :)

You wrote that yourself? wow congrats dude, really, that's very cool. i just told everyone in my family about it, everybody thinks that's very impressive and asked me to congratulate you. they want to speak to you in person, if possible, to give you their regards. they also said they will tell our distant relatives in christmas supper and in NYE they will ignite fireworks that spell your name. i also told about this enormous deed to closer relatives, they had the same reaction. they asked for your address so they can send congratulatory cards and messages. my friends didn't believe me when i told them i knew the author of this gigantic feat, really, they were dumbstruck, they said they will make your name echo through years and years to come. when my neighbour found out about what you did, he was completely dumbstruck too, he wanted to know who you are and he asked (if you have the time, of course) if you could stop by to receive gifts, congratulations and handshakes. with the spreading of the news, a powerful businessman of the area decided to hire you as the CEO of his company because of this tremendous feat and at the same time an important international shareholder wants to sponsor you to give speeches and teach everybody how to do as you did so the world becomes a better place. you have become famous not only here but also everywhere, everybody knows who you are. the news spread really fast and mayors of all cities are setting up porticos, ballons, colossal boom speakers, anything that can make your name stand out more and see which city can congratulate you the hardest for this magnificent feat.

So, I got my very first payout on twitter. And among the storm of thoughts that are running in my mind at his exact moment, this is an attempt to pen them down into something tangible. For those of you who don't know me, I come from a poor home. Debt and bankruptcy ruined everything for us in 2011, and comically - things kept getting worse. Ever since I can remember, I have been indoctrinated into believing that the only way to earn money in this world is via a job. You study really, really hard, get into a good college, study even harder there, and get the highest paying job that you can. There's nothing else to this life of yours, and you have to do it for the first 60 years of your life, and then hope to be able to reap the benefits. But then, I grew up and found out what the internet was. Sportmen, or should I say, cricketers, were the only people visible to me who broke the cycle that was taught to me. Actors and Youtubers were the first set of creatives that I saw doing the same. But, as any lower middle class child, my family and extended family convinced me that it's impossible for me to go that route. I went through the whole ringer you know, JEE, almost ending it all, then convincing my friends to not do so when it was their time to break, got into the first engineering college I got, did a LOT of things to get me at an employable skill level, and got my first real job when I completed my 6th semester. I remember my first ever salary like it was yesterday, you know. I got myself a 500g box of Shrikhand, and invested the entire amount into Mutual Funds. I did the same with all my 12 months of stipends you see. Then I got to my current job, with a stable salary, and the loop started for me. Today, however, it feels a LOT different. Because I just got paid doing something that is NOT a part of the loop. I got paid to talk online about the things I love. You know, for someone who's believed for 22 years that my desting, while being interesting in it's own right, was to simply work away for the next 40 years of my life. But, just this once, I have a taste of Something that isn't within that loop. And...I don't know how to feel about this! I mean, I am happy, of course I am. But.....IDK how to put it in words man. Surreal. That's what this is. Now, to be clear - I will not become a LARP here. I will not start baiting and shitposting on this account for internet money. Nope, I happen to have a few principles that I intend to abide by. And let me make this clear - I don't hate anyone who does bait and shitpost. Get your money brother/sister, I got nothing but love for you. It's just....not for me. I will keep talking about my life. About electronics and embedded systems. A little about the state of my nation, as any responsible adult with more than 2 braincells should. A bit about experiences that I live through. Like kendrick lamar said, "my rights, my wrongs, I write till I am right with God". If you've read till here, thank you for your time. I genuinely appreciate you doing so!
