The Columbia River Gorge is a prime winter location for migrating eagles due to the abundance of food found along the Columbia River. It's typical to see dozens of eagles from the visitor center parking lot and adjacent Seufert Park, which are both open to the public daily.

Consider these high surf conditions a great time to stay off jetties.

High surf conditions are expected along the south Washington, and North and central Oregon Coasts January 7th through the 8th. Large waves with hazardous surf conditions are expected with breakers up to 25 ft. High waves may wash over beaches, jetties and other structures.

The water levels in our flood storage reservoirs across the valley are very low (as they are every fall/winter per our annual elevation guide), so we have plenty of space to hold back inflows from these rain events in the coming days.
