Today we strengthened our commitment to peace. We have signed an MoU with Search for Common Ground to advance YPS, support youth-driven peacebuilding, and build stronger institutional capacity for impact.

Today we made history—co-hosting the inaugural Afro–Malaysia Youth Forum with the esteemed presence of H.E. @anwaribrahim. A milestone for youth cooperation, partnership, and a shared future between our regions.

In the shadows of division, any form of extremism whispers lies that seek to tear us apart. Extremists target youth not because they are weak, but because they are powerful, connected, and ready for change. Social media is not the threat; it is an opportunity to empower youth, amplify peace, and dismantle extremism. Today, as I opened the IGAD Regional Strategic Communication Workshop on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism in Hawassa, Ethiopia, I called on young people to reclaim the narrative, to use their voices, creativity, and digital influence to build bridges of understanding, challenge misinformation, and turn online spaces into forces for peace and purpose.

We had a productive discussion with H.E. @ButaDubi , Ethiopian Ambassador to Kenya. I extend my sincere gratitude to His Excellency and the Embassy team for the warm welcome and for their commitment to strengthening collaboration between the Embassy, and EYC.

Earlier today, I had a fruitful discussion with Ms. Gloria Wawira, CEO of the NYC Kenya, on strengthening collaboration in YPS, digital innovation, climate, and cross-border voluntarism. The best is yet to come with Africa’s youth leading change with purpose, passion, and unity.

Honored to represent the vibrant and visionary youth of Ethiopia at the 2025 Pan African Youth Forum (PAYF) in Djibouti, under the theme “From Aspiration to Action: Youth as Agents of Reparative Justice & Sustainable Development.”

Today, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received Hon. Dialla Moumouni and Mr. Ahmed Bening, Executive Leaders of the Pan African Youth Union (PYU), for the signing of an MoU between the AUC and the PYU, in the presence of the AU STC Chair on Youth. The MoU underscores the AU’s vision to empower Africa’s youth, revitalizing and strengthening the PYU as the continental coordinating mechanism for national youth councils and a unifying voice for young Africans. I visited the Somali Regional State Youth Council with State Minister Ms. Muna Ahmed, PM Advisor Mr. Kejella Merdasa, partners & youth leaders. Though recently established, the Council is making strong strides in youth participation & empowerment—commendable work by Chairman .

Just concluded an amazing three-day Strategic Visioning Workshop on YPS with @UNDPEthiopia! 🙌🏽 We're working together to create a National Action Plan that truly represents our realities and dreams. Big thanks to @UNDPEthiopia and the dedicated youth leaders shaping our future!

We kicked off the Strategic Visioning Workshop on YPS in partnership with @UNDPEthiopia! At EYC, we believe youth must lead peace efforts — not just be included in them. This workshop is a key step toward a National YPS Action Plan, with young voices at the center.
