On this occasion, distinguished staff members were presented with special certificates in acknowledgment of their unwavering commitment, exemplary performance, and prompt responsiveness to national calls on various critical occasions. During the same event, we had the great pleasure of warmly welcoming our newly assigned diplomats to the Mission. In parallel, a heartfelt appreciation and recognition program was held to honor our departing diplomats, who successfully completed their tenure at the Embassy. The event was graced by the presence of distinguished leaders of the Ethiopian community associations and esteemed members of the Ethiopian Diaspora residing in Kenya. I wish to express my sincere and profound gratitude to all my diplomats for their sustained motivation, deep dedication, remarkable results, and their constructive response to the national calls made upon them at different times. I extend my best wishes for a rewarding and successful tenure to the newly assigned diplomats joining our Embassy, as well as to those returning home after the successful completion of their assignment.

በቀጠናችን የአፍሪካ ቀንድ የአፍሪካዊ ችግር በአፍሪካዊ መፍትሄ ለመፍታት፥ የተረጋጋ እና ሰላሙ የተጠበቀ ቀጠናን ለመፍጠር እንዲሁም ልማት እና ብልጽግና እንዲፋጠን ኢጋድ ከመቼውም ጊዜ በላይ ሁለንተናዊ አስተዋጽዖ እያበረከተና እጅግ የላቀ ሚና እየተጫወተ መሆኑ ይታወቃል። በጂግጂጋ ግንቦት 09 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም የአገራችንን ከፍተኛ የመንግስት የጸጥታ ኃላፊዎች እና ባለስልጣናትን በማሳተፍ የተካሄደው የሰላም እና ጸጥታ ምክክር (Peace and Security Dialogue) ቀጣናዊ ተግዳሮቶች በሰላም እና ጸጥታ ላይ የሚኖራቸውን አሉታዊ ተጸዕኖ ከመሰረቱ ለመገምገም ከማስቻሉም በላይ እነዚህን ተግዳሮቶች ቀጣይነት ባለው ሁኔታ ለመቅረፍ እና ዘላቂነት ያለው መፍትሄ ተግባራዊ ለማድረግ የሁሉም የባለድርሻ አካላት ጠንካራ ቅንጅት እንዲፈጠር ያስቻለ ነው። ለዚህ ምስጉን ተግባር የኢጋድ ዋና ጸሐፊ ክቡር ዶ/ር ወርቅነሀ ገበየሁ ከፍ ያለ ምስጋና ይገባቸዋል። It is well recognized that the IGAD is playing a more comprehensive and constructive role than ever before in addressing the challenges of the Horn of Africa through African-led solutions, with the aim of fostering a stable and peaceful region while accelerating development and prosperity. The Peace and Security Dialogue held in Jigjiga on May 17, 2026 with the participation of senior government security officials and other higher officials of our country, not only provided an important platform to assess the adverse impact of regional challenges on peace and security, but also strengthened coordination among all stakeholders to continuously address these challenges and implement effective and sustainable solutions. In this regard, the Secretary-General of IGAD, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, deserves high recognition and appreciation for his commendable leadership and dedicated efforts. Congratulations to our mission in Kenya for successfully supporting the #Ethiopian diaspora in establishing “the Ethiopian Diaspora Network in Kenya”- an umbrella association that will bring greater unity and strength to our community there. Today, we established four community development associations at the Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Nairobi. These are the Oromia Development Association in Kenya, the Wolaita Development Association in Kenya, the Ethiopian Somali Development Association in Kenya, and the Gambella Development Association in Kenya. The founding meetings of these four associations concluded with discussions, the approval of their bylaws, and the election of their respective executive boards. On the same occasion, the Ethiopian and Ethiopian origin community Association in Kenya was officially relaunched. The ceremony was attended by members of the Ethiopian diaspora community and invited guests. Ethiopia is participating in the Second African Urban Forum taking place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 8–10 April 2026 under the theme “Adequate Housing for All: Advancing Socio-economic and Environmental Transformation towards the Realization of Agenda 2063.” The Ethiopian delegation, led by H.E. Chaltu Sani Ibrahim, Minister of Urban and Infrastructure, is sharing Ethiopia’s experiences in urban transformation, including the Corridor Development Initiative, affordable housing programs, and the Green Legacy Initiative, along with other initiatives underway in Addis Ababa and cities across the country. The Forum brings together African leaders, policymakers, private sector representatives, civil society, and development partners to advance sustainable housing and urban development across Africa.

I’m deeply saddened by the passing of an eminent diplomat of our century, Ambassador Konjit Sinegiyorgis. History will boldly remember her remarkable dedication and lifelong service to her beloved country. With her passing, we have lost a great mind—truly a moving library whose wisdom and experience come only once in a century. May her legacy continue to inspire generations to come. May her soul rest in eternal peace! May God grant strength, comfort and solace to her family during this difficult time. የክፍለ ዘመናችን ዕንቁ እና አንጋፋ ዲፕሎማት ክብርት አምባሳደር ቆንጅት ሲነጊዮርጊስ ከዚህ አለም በሞት በመለየታቸው ከፍተኛ ሃዘን ተሰምቶኛል። በከፍተኛ ብቃት፥ ትጋት እና ቁርጠኝነት ሙሉ ዕድሜያቸውን ለእናት አገራቸው መቆማቸው በታሪክ መዘገብ በደማቁ ለዘመናት ተጽፎ ይኖራል። በእርሷቸው ህልፈተ ህይወት አገራችን ታላቅ የዲፕሎማሲ ፋና ወጊ ከማጣቷም በላይ በምዕተ አመት አንዴ የሚከሰት ተንቀሳቃሽ ቤተ መጻሕፍት ተዘግቷል። የእርሳቸው ጉልህ አሻራ በትውልድ ቅብብሎሽ ለዘመናት ተጠብቆ ይቆያል። ነፍሳቸውን ፈጣሪ በአጸደ-ገነት ያኑርልን! ለቤተሰቦቻቸው መጽናናትን ብረታትን ይስጥልን!
