“Mario movie lore and game lore are separate things.” Yes, BUT… the general public will see whatever is in the movies as canon. The Nintendo fans know different, but general audiences will not. I mean… people still think Peach and Luigi are Rosalina’s parents.

-Rosalina entered the Mushroom World at the same time as Peach and also happened to become a princess? Everything seems to be pointing to this scenario, and I just don't like how much liberty the movies are taking with the characters.

If they make Peach and Rosalina sisters, it just makes the entire lore of the Super Mario Galaxy games obsolete. In the game, Rosalina had a brother and was separated from her family thousands of years before Princess Peach was even born. If she’s her sister, that means-
