Eleven men from Karachi, Swat, Bajaur, Mardan, and Sahiwal went to sea to feed their families. They are now being held at gunpoint on a hijacked tanker off Somalia, starving, with no confirmed rescue timeline. One of them sent his father what he believed was his final goodbye.
Pakistan has eleven of its own citizens held at gunpoint on a ship off Somalia and most people do not even know their names. This is not a movie. This is happening right now. Read this. Tag everyone who should. Make noise.

"Dad, we have been captured by pirates. This is my last voice message." Amin Bin Shams recorded this for his father. He is their only child. He went to sea to earn a living. He has not been heard from since Friday. There are eleven Pakistani men on that ship. Read this. Share this. Do not let this disappear from the timeline.

The UAE's decision to leave OPEC is the most significant blow it has dealt to Saudi Arabia and the entire GCC since the Saudi Emirati rivalry. Thus far, Saudi Arabia has avoided responding to UAE provocations but may not be able to after this.
The OPEC issue is significant but has been overshadowed by other geopolitical issues. Saudi Arabia, the de facto leader of OPEC cartel, has kept production low for some time to keep prices up, producing 9 million barrels per day while the UAE was allocated 2.9 million. The UAE wanted to increase to 3.7 million. Saudis need inflated oil prices, at least 86 dollars per barrel, to avoid budget deficits and sustain their welfare state and economic transition under Vision 2030. The Emirates, by contrast, have a more diverse economy.
With the UAE, OPEC's third largest producer at 15 percent, leaving, the group will struggle to maintain its monopoly over global oil supply and thus prices. The Emirates will eventually join the US, which intends to liberalise the oil market while positioning itself as a major producer. This will further strain US ties with the Saudi led GCC (without UAE), since all GCC economies except the UAE are heavily dependent on oil revenues.
The logical continuation of this step will likely lead to the UAE's expulsion from the GCC and Arab League, accelerating a new order in the Middle East and broader Muslim world.
