I went to a Rod Wave concert last night. Basically no idea who Rod Wave is but I heard it was a cultural phenomenon so decided to go along for the ride. Never seen anything like it, even in my 20 years of playing concerts myself. Most rabid fan base ever, at a sold out arena, singing every single word to every single song. Literally. And top of lungs, losing their minds. Songs that have never been on the radio. The 14th songs from forgettable albums. If Prince and MJ came back from the dead for one show together, the crowd would be half as engaged as they were last night. That’s how crazy it was. And this dude stands on stage alone and sings or raps like 10% of the words. He was like the MC at the world’s biggest singalong. Don’t understand it, but a true sight to behold.
