Two major events happened in the Katana ecosystem today: 1. Matt Fisher has become the CEO of Katana. 2. Katana launched Katana Perps, the first native perpetuals platform on the chain, on the back of acquiring IDEX. While the second is incredible, the first is more important. Matt joined Katana because he believed in the core thesis. After only a few weeks of working with Matt I knew he’d be a founder one day. He was hungry, fast, and a great dealmaker who understood DeFi and the space well. Given that Matt operates everyday as CEO in founder mode, he is that founder today. He has shown to have great instincts already. He quickly formed his own thesis: Katana needed to own more of its stack and capture the revenues attached to it. So, in his first major move as CEO, he started making it happen. The IDEX acquisition is about Katana controlling its own destiny. Spot, routing, and derivatives in a single integrated stack, rather than depending on third-party venues that can be acquired, sunset, or redirected. Polygon Labs incubated Katana with GSR because we believe DeFi needs purpose-built infrastructure, not general-purpose chains trying to do everything. Matt and the team will prove that thesis right. Congrats to him and the whole Katana team on the success in the past few weeks. But, this is just the beginning.

The @katana deserves tremendous credit for pulling off an amazing launch in terrible market conditions. Someone should've opened a prediction market on Polygon gas fees dropping. We launched higher gas limits + smoother fees across the network. So every app wins. @Polymarket's already seeing it: ~30% gas reduction per txn. While users still pay nothing in gas.
