In uniform, there’s structure, access to care, even reliable medication. After retirement, that consistency can drop, and the underlying disease catches up fast. Add possible Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and the stress of transition, and you find many retirees are already fragile before they leave work. Retirement didn’t kill him. The groundwork was laid years before. Every working adult needs to hear this: retirement planning is not just money, it’s your blood pressure, your weight, your habits, your consistency. Because when the body fails, it doesn’t negotiate.
