I wanted Bethell to replace Salt after 3rd match. But Salt solidified his position in the team due to his batting + fielding from 4th match. Same with Romario. Give him couple more chances. Our top order has the confidence to go big right from the start thanks to the big man in the back. And everyone has a role clarity. Romario batted only 3 games. Good strike rate against RR. Not out against LSG. Poor shot selection when he go out against DC. Wrt his bowling, he isnt suited for death overs. Venky and Bethell might have had the similar result in this situation. Coz they are up against Miller and Stubbs. And the role of the 6th bowler becomes important only when any of the other bowlers have a bad day. And trying to slip in Romario right after KL's wicket might have been another option. But at that point in time, the decision Rajat made was right. Bet on ur best bowlers at crucial situations. Picking back to back wickets was the result we wanted at the juncture. It just didn't pay off. If u bring in Bethel, it will collapse the current lineup. Bethel isnt suited for finisher role. It would even be a poor utilisation of his skillset. We failed most of the seasons coz we relied on big names and not on an fortified lineup. Bringing Bethel in just for the name's sake is the same thing. U can try to slip him in the middle. But that is another big decision as it would result in revising the roles each player plays. Just give the man another chance. Suyash's execution wasn't at best yesterday. He bowler some shorter delivers that became easy for the batsmen to pick on. On a good day, this lineup is the best. Expecting Jithesh to find his form back. What Sarfraz does for CSK this season, Jithesh used to do that for us. He isnt strong physically but good at exploiting the field placement. That Jithesh is missing. Bringing in Bethel as number 4 is an option but that will result in revising the roles allocated to each player. Its too soon to decide on that for now.

@amalthomasroy @ajarrodkimber Coz he upped his game man. He does really well during the death overs. He was hit for a 6 by Stubbs due to wrong delivery choice. His execution is really good. Able to nail his yorkers. I dont think think Bhuvi will Crack much under pressure.

@ajarrodkimber Id argue Romario, Rasikh are very much low floor bowlers. Bhuvi, we all know cracks under pressure - just hasn't been out under pressure so far this year.

To be honest, I want to give Romario a couple more chances. He is still a reliable finisher, but he isn't the reliable sixth bowling option he used to be. Honestly, Bethel replacing Romario seems to be the next best option. Bethell should play before Patidar in case two wickets fall before the 10th over. He can take on the spinners. Otherwise, if not needed, he can come in last. It isn't a bad option either. It means that we should already be in a comfortable position. Also, it adds a spin option in the middle overs. But how does he fare as a spinner?

If Bethell plays as finisher then he will become Tom Banton in 2 games.

Neither me. It can't be an odd evening you drop players for on a difficult surface, someone who hasn't batted much this year. There should be a series of pattern. He wasn't consistent last season too yet played one of the greatest knock on a big night.

Exactly, it was the finishers who failed today. This was exactly the situation where they should have stepped up. Romario played a dumb attempt to counter a stump to stump plump delivery against Kuldeep. He should have gone big. Thats his role. Jithest's form is of a concern to me. He showed his past self's glimpse last march. Hope he brings that back and gives us a rememberable significant innings

I am saying it again & again, play both Hazlewood & Duffy in XI. This would be my XI+1: 1) Salt 2) Kohli 3) Padikkal 4) Patiddar 5) Venky 6) David 7) Jitesh(wk) 8) Krunal 9) Bhuvi 10) Hazlewood 11) Duffy 12) Suyash What would be yours? I still think, Duffy brings more value to the 12 than Shepherd. If Duffy bowls in powerplay than RCB will have 4 quality overs of Hazlewood for middle & slog overs!!

Dude. Whatever man. I really love Venky but replacing DDP with him won't fix out issue that is glaring at our eyes. Our finishers did not rise up to the occasion. Both Romario and Jithesh have to step up. They played crucial innings in such situations last year. But aren't up to the mark. First thing of concern is strengthening our finishers. Second concern is our 6th bowling option. Lets see what happens.

RCB should play venky at 3 now. He gives you that extra bowling option and he's a much better hitter as well

The economy he has this season is bad. And that's the reason. And every new batsman that stepped into the crease attempted to go big from ball 1. The only window where we could have swiped Romaio is bw overs 10-15. But kl and axar were looking to take on weak links. That over could have been devastating. But against Axar, could have taken the chance. But bringing in the best bowlers is the best choice.

Previous season 6th bowling option of Shepherd helped @RCBTweets to bowl Bhuvi and Hazlewood at death but dis tym they r missing utilising Romario in middle overs. Even previous season he had 1-3 bad games but rest he bowled well why can’t u try nd trust him in middle @RCBTweets.

@Adityakrsaha Yes. The bowlers put up a great fight and a string comeback. Ironically, i always thought 200 is the minimum score in all our matches where we bat first.

Although, it looks like bowling cost us this game but in fact they did great for most of the part in the 2nd inning. Our batters didn't put up enough score on the board. You can't be scoring just 175 runs at Chinnaswamy after being 99/2 in 10 overs with that batting line-up

You had to defend 56 of 42 balls. The tactics was mostly spot on. If you took it to 15 of 6 you did something special.

There are take aways. But what can u do actually to fill the gap? Can u actually replace Romario with someone else? No one suits 6-7th position better than Romario. At that position, we need destructive a batsman capable of sending even the good deliveries out of the ground. Lst season, Romario was the perfect fit coz he did his job correctly in both bowling and batting. Was a reliable finisher and 6th bowling option. But it does not appear to be the case this season. Became unreliable with the ball to the extent that we cant depend on him to defend 16 off 6 in the last over. Not his issue though coz he isnt a death bowler. But he isnt even dependable in the middle overs. Jacob Bethel, u can bring in, but does not suit that position. Should demote the position of Rajat to fit Bethel in the batting lineup. But is it worth it? Even then, can he really be a reliable 6th bowling option. He bowled good spells where pitches offers turn. Can he do the same everywhere? Jithesh form is a major concern. Coz that is a void we cant easily patchup. Even Romarios position can be filled be someone else like Bethel and Venky. But not Jithesh. U can't make Salt Keep wickets. Coz he is our best fielder outside the circle. Too many issues. And I think our management will come up with rhe same team next match and next match's result will decide the changes.

Not disappointed there are still plenty of positives to take from this match.

Our next match against GT, they have always given us tough time at our home, Gill in his Bradmanesque form in IPL, Buttler has always performed against us, Siraj will be breathing fire with the ball and another local player Prasidh will be playing in his home ground and all that isn't enough, Nehra juju will be there too. We have to play our best to defeat this team, can't afford to make even one mistake.

Dude. What are u speaking about man? He gave us 3 good knocks in 5 matches. And all of a sudden u want to replace him with Venky. Just give him couple more chances. He didn't fail consistently like Ruthuraj. And u wrote off DDP's contributions last season just like that. He played many crucial knocks last season. His contributions was in no way inferior to anyone else's. Next match, if he performs, it is ppl like u who praise him shamelessly. Rather be patient. And trust the player.

Yes. But not sure if he can bring back his prime batting. He chooses bad shots. Last seasons Jithesh would have played shots all over the ground, especially behind the stumps. This season he isnt even attempting those shots. One of the reasons dk became one of our best finishers is because of his ability to play shots all around the park. Not his strength. Last season, jithesh was similar. That jithest is yet to appear. Hope he appears.

Salt has been brilliant in the outfield, safe hands and great awareness. Jitesh looked solid too, handled Krunal’s short stuff well, sharp behind the stumps, and chipped in with a good catch. Batting is the only area he needs to level up now 💯

@TSMentfan @8eenpoint5 Nah. He gave us 2 back to back 50s that too at very good SR. Other match too, he got out quick but had 200 SR. It isnt the time to discuss DDP's position in the team. He will stay. There are other issues to be worked on.
