@_Rural__Juror_ @Aidan1412 @ogjrich @ShamsCharania Don’t be a clown with the you don’t know ball crap. Everyone who lived through it was talking about it, Peter Vescey, Jackie MacMullan and many others reported at the time. They were able to fly under the radar because the Celtics were making it so obvious with their tank.

That's not true at all. You don't rush athletic 7 footers back from broken bones in their feet that require surgery, especially when that broken bone and the recovery exasperated the degenerative disc disease in his back. Spurs had no choice but to run through Dominque. Who should they have gone through, Avery Johnson? Vinny Del Negro? Will Perdue? Just admit you don't know ball or what you are talking about and move on.

The NBA presented three comprehensive anti-tanking concepts to its Board of Governors on Wednesday, with modifications expected to each before a formal vote in May, per ESPN sources. 1. 18 teams in draft lottery (seeds 7-15 in each conference) – flattened odds, with bottom 10 teams having an 8% chance, the remaining 20% odds distributed in decreasing order for 11 through 18, and and a lottery drawing for all 18 picks. 2) 22 teams in lottery using 2-year record (seeds 7-15, plus the four playoff first round exits in both conferences). Lottery teams would reach a minimum win total floor in each season, such as 25 wins. If a team falls short of the floor, it gets slotted to meet the floor. Top 4 drawn as part of lottery, as is currently. 3) 18 teams in a "5 by 5" lottery – bottom 5 teams have equal odds for the top pick, with lottery formed for picks 1-5. Bottom 5 teams have a floor at 10; those that fall out of top 5 get sorted in a separate drawing.

Spurs didn't tank to get Duncan. Four of their best six players had debilitating injuries. Ridiculous bad luck followed by ridiculous good luck when Boston openly tanked for Duncan and didn't get him. Robinson hurt his back in the Olympics then broke the same bone in his foot that ended Yao Ming's career. He was never the same. Starting SF Elliott blew out his knee and needed surgery. His knee issues continued the following year and limited him to just 36 games and 9ppg, when he was a 20ppg all-star the year before that knee injury. Staring PF Charles Smith had a career ending knee injury. 6th Man Chuck Person had a herniated disc and was lost for the season before it began. He was never the same.

@ShamsCharania These are all bad proposals, if they go back to the original unweighted system for all teams that miss the playoffs it will disincentivize the concept of bottoming out.

@Aidan1412 @ogjrich @ShamsCharania Spurs tanked to get Duncan too. They dismantled their whole team to get Wemby. The franchise was built on being the most efficient at tanking.

@ogjrich @ShamsCharania Spurs didn't really "tank" like the current tanking teams. They just had a team based on Dejounte Murray and then traded him. Their roster sucked they lost a bunch. Teams like the Jazz are opening tanking and pulling healthy players to tank. That being said the answer is gambling

Trailing by 3 points and needing a huge defensive play to keep their chances of advancing alive, Nebraska only had 4 players on the court to play defense against Iowa. Unsurprisingly, the results were unfavorable for the Huskers. Wow! 🎥 @MarchMadnessMBB

What are parents doing?? A surprising trend is emerging: parents are holding back their 8th-grade sons an extra year. The goal? To give them an advantage for college sports recruitment and potential NIL deals worth millions. Good or bad? #NIL #Sports #Money #Parenting #NCAA

@PardonMyTake At the Harvard-Yale football game the two fanbases often chant “safety school” at each other, it’s partially meant as a fun thing to say, get over it.

@kendallbaker @BarstoolBigCat Yes, it was a better product for fans when student athletes were amateurs who only got a free education along with room and board. The NFL is a more enjoyable product with no guaranteed contracts. Athletes can fight to get a fair share but that doesn’t make it a better product.

“NIL killed Cinderella” is really just nostalgia for a system where players couldn’t get paid and had no mobility. Of course mid-major stars stayed put back then… they had no choice. Now they do… and suddenly March Madness is “ruined”? It’s far more nuanced than that.

@ygeasymoney Some people had Tatum as the best prospect, most people had Fultz before he got the yips. I wanted no part of Lonzo at the time, but wasn’t sure who was better between Tatum and Josh Jackson.

@Shane_DNRSports Any explanation of that bizarre traveling call that seemed to be called on a woman who dribbled then passed? Caused a two minute delay then they said someone was out of bounds.

@NateDuncanNBA We'll agree to disagree on that whole play, but the real issue is Kennard has no business trying to guard a player like Sengun in any setting, that's the penalty for having a player like Kennard on the court for his offense.

@RealActionBenz Yeah I don't agree that he fouled him first. And if you want to talk about how things "used to be" bigs got the ball around the basket and shot over the top of smaller defenders. They didn't just dribble through them because they were bigger on the perimeter

@DanKelley66 The question isn't which Duke player was surrounded by the best talent for his whole career, it's who was the best. Grant Hill was better, Jay Williams was better, most of the other guys who were better didn't stay long enough.
