@elonmusk @dvorahfr Empathy must be paired with reason, wisdom, and logic. In a world where everyone shared equal empathy, the issues Elon mentioned wouldn't exist. But that's utopia. Yet, striving for more empathy is key to becoming a better species.

I’d like to say that it’s always a strength, but there are important exceptions: 1. When empathy towards immigrants who have antithetical and intransigent beliefs leads to civilizational suicide. 2. When there is too much empathy for violent criminals, rather than their victims, leading to greater net harm to the people. 3. When policies ostensibly originating from empathy towards low-income groups result in low-income groups being worse off (communism). @GadSaad articulates this well.
