A plaque meant to honor the courage of Jan. 6 officers was finally hung — 5 years later, in a quiet basement, in the middle of the night. Our law enforcement deserves better than this kind of disregard.

As a grandmother of seven, I want to trust that our institutions will protect our children's health. There is no room for political ideology in the NIH.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️ On this day, I turn to Ireland’s literary giant, Seamus Heaney. In his poem “Digging,” Heaney tends to the weight of legacy and family history — finding meaningful parallel between his work with words and his forefathers’ work with the land.

Congratulations to our 2026 Congressional App Challenge finalists! Special Congratulations to our first place winner — Lillian from The Hill School! Motivated by the growing mental health crisis among her peers, Lillian created the app Glitched, a 2-D and 3-D day-in-the-life simulation that helps students recognize symptoms of anxiety in order to raise necessary awareness. Our second place winners are Divya and Om from Germantown Academy for College Buddy, an app that helps students navigate the complex and often stressful world of college applications. Our third place winner is Siddharth from Spring-Ford Area High School for Smart C.A.N.E. (Computer Aided Navigational Equipment) which would improve mobility aids for the blind and seeing-impaired. Every year, I amazed not just by the intelligence of our students, but by the heart they bring to their innovation.

House Democrats want to fund key DHS agencies and pay TSA workers — while we address Americans' concerns about ICE.    If House Republicans are serious about making America safe, they would join us.

I’m at the Dilley detention center, where 5‑year‑old Liam Ramos was once held and where hundreds of other children continue to endure harsh, unacceptable conditions. This isn’t sound immigration policy — it’s cruelty.

The Gámez-Cuéllar family has been released from Dilley! We just picked them up.

This week, I voted for the War Powers Resolution to rein in this President. We have been led into a war of choice with Iran, and Congress must reassert our authority. We owe it to the American people, especially our service members.

Reports from ICE detention centers already show deeply concerning, inhumane conditions. Packing thousands into Berks and Schuylkill warehouses ignores the wellbeing of those inside and nearby communities. PA is right to demand accountability.

Capt. Cody Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, Sgt. Declan Coady, Chief Warrant Officer Robert Marzan, and Maj. Jeffrey O'Brien. I mourn the heavy loss of our six U.S. service members in Kuwait. Americans deserve answers.

We’re being pushed toward war with no strategy, while service members are exposed, Americans are stranded, and civilians are suffering. This is not foreign policy — it’s chaos.

No one is shedding a tear for the death of Ayatollah Khamenei and his murderous regime. Yet, our founders made clear that a President cannot declare war without Congress. The American people deserve answers.

Today, the United States launched military strikes against Iran with no plan for what happens next. My full statement:

Bananas are a fruit… they grow on trees. And while some states like Florida can grow them, most bananas are imported because they thrive in more tropical climates.

If we want to keep banana prices down, we need to eliminate these tariffs and maintain relationships with our partners abroad.
