@JoyceCarolOates I met John Frankenheimer at a book signing and told him it was one of my favorite of his films and he said “Mine too!”

Highly recommend "Seconds"--Rock Hudson's major role. (1966, directer John Frankenheimer) surely one of the great underrated American films.

@Rowrbazzle Thanks Stephen. I just added the hot dog tidbit to the website. I think that was back when the acceptable amount of rat droppings in a frankfurter was a lot higher.

@StoliarSteve Thanks. I would have assumed if it was extant, it would have been in the Marx Brothers television collection.

@Rowrbazzle It’s possible the audio exists, but I don’t think the whole show is still around.

A couple of publicity shots of Harpo, Jerry Colonna, and Edward Everett Horton from an October 1954 "Colgate Comedy Hour" entitled "Revenge With Music," based on the 1934 Howard Dietz/Arthur Schwartz musical. I was pushing one month old when the show aired. I remember it vividly.

@dave_kehr My father was a story editor at Universal. Here he is with Arthur Lubin and Susanna Foster on the set of Lubin’s PHANTOM OF THE OPERA as he’s about to leave for his military service.

@CornellWoolrich You might be intrigued to know that this cover was “flagged for violent content “ - 90 years after it was available on newsstands!

One of my few forays into the Weird Menace pulp niche was "Baal's Daughter" in the January 1936 issue of Thrilling Mystery. The shocking cover (by Rudolph Belarski) used for this issue reaffirmed my belief that Weird Menace fiction was generally not a field I wished to pursue.

@Vatel1675 The dialogue is all from the Hammett book. Supposedly Huston dropped the book on his secretary’s desk and said “Type this up. It’s our script.”

THE MALTESE FALCON is damn talky for a hardboiled crime picture. But considering who’s doing the talking, nobody’s complaining. #TCMParty

@eric_ernie_col The “You’re not here” was done by Abbott and Costello but, like many of their bits, likely preceded them have in Burlesque. And Ernie and Zippy do well by it.

Yes, Carrie Underwood and a Village People tribute band are right up there with Beyonce and Aretha Franklin as inauguration headliners

@Rowrbazzle I'm only 100 pages into it, so I can't say yet. I just came upon that passage and couldn't resist posting it. The book is smidge overwritten, but obviously it's a very compelling story.

“The thought of Danny made her shudder as one shudders when a snake with a broken back withers in the dust. All her life now was Richard’s. But would he ever cast out his love for Danny, so that he could be altogether hers? She lay for a long time, fixed in thought...”

@BusterKeatonSoc A late actor friend of mine was in this production. He loved Buster. He also talked about what a great support to him Eleanor was. This is the first picture I’ve ever seen of this. Thank you!

I'm a judge in the Thurber Prize for American Humor. It's so great to not feel like I'm doing anything wrong by sitting around reading.
