Through the last several years, Jeffrey Deitch has had a number of high-profile and challenging exhibitions, but for me, this one is the most creative project envisioned by him. This must-see exhibition runs through April 23.

But be brave and come close to the surface to be seduced and delighted by the shiny, jewel-like beads encrusted in the rich painterly texture.

Here in LA, we have a rare chance to pay respect to Édouard Manet’s Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe (1863). Once exhibited at Salon des Refusés, this painting was criticized for its subject matter and for a deliberate lack of finesse with its brushstrokes.

There is a thought-provoking Philip Guston exhibition at @HauserWirth (NY) His paintings from fifty years ago deliver cultural and political punches. If Philip Guston were still alive today what would he paint in response to today’s political and cultural transgressions...?

When #BeatriceWood, who created her #art until her 105th year, was asked how she sustained her personal and artistic vivaciousness she famously replied...”there is no secret, just young men and plenty of #chocolate.” Hmm, good for thought...

re: my latest Art Matters-"Chatted with a guy in NYC who was a skyscraper insurance inspector. Asked which are most vulnerable to wear and tear- the new ones. Poorly designed, poorly constructed, cheap materials. So that’s contemporary architecture? #disney concert hall?" #LACMA

The longer you are looking at the portrait of two boys taken by Henri Cartier-Bresson in Mississippi (1947) the more you get intrigued and charmed by their self-awareness and confidence. So cool, so smart, so sweet.

Hi my friends, while we are locked in our homes, why don't we share with each other some photos of the art on our walls? Here's one of mine. Read my latest Art Matters: tinyurl.com/yce974rk

There is an amazing story about #FyodorDostoevsky, who knew Raphael's Sistine Madonna through its reproductions. When he visited the #Dresden Gallery, and saw this Madonna for the first time, he dropped to his knees and started to cry. Read more: tinyurl.com/taw5c8u

@NYTmag The profile of the famous German Artist #AnselmKiefer is a huge disappointment. Long, rambling, confusing, and less about Kiefer than the 5 years it took the writer to finish the project. Boring...

So, here we have it: two artists, man and woman, both preoccupied with the subject of sex. He makes art with overwhelming aggression, while she pushes buttons with a touch of provocative humor. Read more from my latest Art Matters: tinyurl.com/uvymxdd

Last Summer, #HammerMuseum presented a sprawling solo exhibition by #SarahLucas. And yes, it was full of sex. But, it was well-edited and more diverse than #PaulMcCarthy's exhibition, with sculptures, photographs, and installations brimming with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor.
