This is an absolutely INSANE thing to say out loud. We killed their leaders in the middle of negotiations because we didn’t like the way they negotiated?!?!
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Karoline Leavitt: "Some of the previous leaders are now no longer on planet Earth because they lied to the United States and they strung us along in negotiations, and that was unacceptable to the president, which is why many of the previous leaders were killed"

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better use of council money. Huge shout to to @Merton_Council for the improve of their shop parades in the region. Improving how an area looks has a major impact on the local economy. I always remember the story of broken windows in New York. The theory is simple. One broken window left unrepaired signals that nobody cares. So another gets broken. Then another. Until decline becomes the norm and feels impossible to reverse. The opposite is also true. One renovated shopfront tells the street that someone gives a damn. A business owner sees their neighbour invest and thinks , maybe I should too. A customer walks past and decides to go in rather than walk on. A landlord fixes the flat above because suddenly the area feels worth it. It’s not just paint and signage. It’s a signal. And signals change behaviour at scale. The before and after here isn’t just aesthetic. It’s economic. It’s the difference between a high street in decline and one with a future. More councils should be doing exactly this.

Saghar (25) and Ghazal Ghodrat (29), Sisters from Shiraz, were kidnapped in January by the regime in Iran. Since then, no one has heard from them. No message. No sign they’re even alive. Their family has been threatened into silence. Their only hope now is for the world to keep saying their names. Because if no one does, they don’t just disappear once. They disappear twice.

Israeli Knesset members are currently voting to pass a death penalty bill that would apply only to Palestinians. In what would have been unthinkable just a couple of years ago, it is poised to pass.

I don't think people understand the gravity of the situation as the UN is preparing for possible nuclear weapon use in Iran. This is a picture of Tehran. For you uneducated, untraveled, never-served, warhawks licking your chops at the thought of bombing it. It's not some low population desert. There are families, children, family pets. Regular working class people with dreams. You're sick to want war. Tehran is a city of nearly 10,000,000 people. Imagine nuking Washington, Berlin, Paris, London, or beyond, bombed with nuclear weapons. I gave up my diplomatic career to leak this information. I suspended my duties so as not to be part of or a witness to this crime against humanity, in an attempt to prevent a nuclear winter before it is too late. Yesterday, nearly ten million people protested “No Kings” in the United States. The possibility of the use of nuclear weapons must be taken very seriously. It's dangerous. Act now. Spread this message worldwide. Take the streets. Protest for our humanity and future. Only the people can stop it. History will remember us.

Margaret Rutherford (L) and Agatha Christie (R) on the set of the 1961 filming of MGM’s “Murder She Said”. Rutherford was 69 and Christie 71. The notable part of this photo for me is that both women were leading in their field and Rutherford was leading on screen. She was allowed to be older to look older and still be visible and laudable. The reason I launched my #actingyouragecampaign in 2018 was because this is no longer the case for women on screen. I don’t think there are any women over 50 on U.K. TV as presenters with naturally grey hair, any more. I regularly see influencers praising how young, older women look and praising the cosmetic surgery they’ve had done. Older faces are deemed failed faces on women. It’s getting worse. There is an entire generation of women who’ve been erased and the criticism lands squarely on the shoulders of women like me who are asking for a range of representations of women onscreen. This has to extend to visibly ageing women. Chemically modifying our faces and follicles carries significant risks. The cumulative mental health cost is unquantifiable to younger and older women. Meanwhile the profits roll in for the companies making money from manufactured misery. My brother died when he was 17 and I was 12 so I know ageing is a privilege. I survived a heart attack last year and I’m facing a brand new and unrelated health challenge which I didn’t see coming. Life is so precious. The least important aspect of life is how we look and as women were so much more. Why are we complying with a narrative which asks us to prioritise the least interesting thing about us. #actingyouragecampaign #dontcastherout #ageingisntfailing (Photo via @rembrandtsroom )

When I travel outside of Ukraine, I get daily intelligence updates online. This morning, I was briefed that U.S. military facilities in the Middle East and the Gulf region were photographed by Russian satellites in the interests of Iran. On March 24th, they imaged the U.S.–UK joint military facility on Diego Garcia located in the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean. They also captured pictures of Kuwait International Airport and parts of the infrastructure of the Greater Burgan oil field. On March 25th, they took pictures of the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. The Shaybah oil and gas field in Saudi Arabia, İncirlik Air Base in Türkiye, and Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar were all imaged on March 26th. There are no Ukrainian facilities on this list. But who is helping whom when sanctions are lifted from an aggressor that earns daily revenue and provides intelligence for strikes against American, Middle Eastern, UK, and U.S.–UK bases and so on? When surveillance is carried out over facilities in Ukraine, we always understand that they must be protected, since plans are in motion to destroy them – energy and water infrastructure, military facilities, and so on. Everyone knows that repeated reconnaissance indicates preparations for strikes. How can sanctions be eased if this is what the Russians are doing? There must be pressure on the aggressor. And lifting sanctions is certainly not pressure. It looks strange. Sanctions are being lifted, while the aggressor is providing intelligence to strike facilities, including those of the countries that are discussing or have already lifted sanctions. From my conversation with journalists (3/3).

Our Palm Sunday processions have not taken place due to security concerns, but every parish church was full as was St Joseph’s Cathedral ; voices lifted in praise, singing “hosanna” to our Lord, praying for His protection and for peace in the Middle East. In Him we trust.

Former PMs can claim up to £115,000 p.a to cover office/secretarial costs arising from their position in public life. Truss claimed £23,310 between resignation in Nov ‘22 & March ‘23. In ‘24/25, she claimed £97,152. Is she using our taxes to spout lies about the UK in the USA?
Damian Low@DamianLow3

Just a former Prime Minister spouting lies about her own country in the USA for money. Taking money to undermine her own country’s reputation abroad when she still has privileges paid by the UK taxpayer is outrageous. Plastic patriot.
