I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new post at Oxleas NHS Trust in adult learning disability! I’ve had a great first post working in special schools and learned so much. I’m looking forward to developing my dysphagia knowledge and working in the community

Can’t believe it’s been a whole week since graduation! Lovely day celebrating all our accomplishments and hard work over a challenging 2 years. And nearly 6 months in my first role, time is flying

Most of all, I really enjoy spending time with the children and young people I work with. It’s rewarding getting to know them and their stories, and I hope to develop into a skilled practitioner who can effectively support their communication development and maintenance.

I’m gradually building up my practical knowledge about dysphagia too. I’m starting to join classes at lunch/snack time and modifying meals/drinks and observed mealtime assessments.

Reflecting on all I’ve learned since starting my NQP role in August working in specialist schools. I’d never worked with young people with PMLD before. I feel very fortunate to be well-supported and have a broad caseload in terms of ages and profiles of young people.

Today is my last day with @UoYLangLing . I've had a wonderful nearly 2 years here with great colleagues and students but am very excited to be taking up the role of Lecturer in Sociolinguistics (for a year) at @QMULLinguistics from September!!
