I love you. I miss you. Be mine. These are not just their names. The words reflect the emotion of abandoned companion animals in our care longing for a place to live… rest… and be happy. This weekend, consider making an incredible difference simply by showing up. Adopt. Foster. Give. Online or in-person. #TheyJustMightRescueYou #explore #kittens

🐾 Meet Doty! 🐾 Doty (pronounced Doe-tee) is a lively girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She is full of energy, loves to play, and is always ready for her next adventure. She came to the shelter with her buddy Louie, and the two got along wonderfully. She would love to find a home with him if possible. Doty has experience living with teenagers and would do best in a home with older kids or adults who can match her strength and energy. She thrives with playtime, whether it is with people or other dogs, and would be happiest in a home with a yard or regular trips to the dog park. Active, playful, and full of life. 👉 Visit SPCA Cincinnati to meet Doty and see if she is the right fit for your home. Thank you to Upstream 360 for continuing to support our mission and the animals in our care. 🐾 #Upstream360DogOfTheMonth

All it takes is one brave step, a #PawPass! Bogart left the shelter for a break away yesterday. This morning before doors opened, his new family was ready and waiting to sign the paperwork! 🙌 We are thankful for their compassion and wish them all the very best life. @TQLogistics, thanks for being our silent hero. #Foster

It’s true. You have seen this face before. This is Beefcake. About 11 weeks ago we featured him right here on #BigBullyAndBeautiful. Today, we are turning the spotlight on him to remind our community that Beefcake is a loving dog with resilience… but he’s ready to go home. Come meet this handsome boy today, 11900 Conrey Road in Sharonville. If nothing else, please tell a friend who may consider taking Beefcake out on a Paw Pass or even fostering him. #RescueDog #Urgent #CallToAction

This month we were intentional to reflect on and celebrate the extraordinary work of women in animal welfare. Today, we conclude #WomensHistoryMonth with Jane Hinton! Hinton indeed made history as one of the first of two African American women to earn a veterinary degree. She also co-developed the Mueller-Hinton Agar (a standard lab practice used to grow bacteria so that scientists can determine the effectiveness of antibiotics). After gaining her degree, Hinton practiced as a small animal veterinarian in Canton, Massachusetts, and then a federal government inspector in Framingham, Massachusetts where she worked to combat disease outbreaks in livestock. Inspired by her father, who was by profession a bacteriologist and pathologist— an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of syphilis, Jane attended school in Europe as a child. Her parents believed she would have the best education available as a black student. She returned to the United States to complete high school at Montpelier Seminary in Vermont in 1935, before earning her undergraduate degree at the age of 20 from Simmons College in 1939. The SPCA Cincinnati gives respect to the women who have trail blazed a path forward in animal welfare and all areas of humanity! We acknowledge the women who make an impact in the animal world even today. Because of them, history is still being written-one act of care at a time. Thank you for helping our agency celebrate the incredible women we’ve featured on our social media platforms! #BetterTogether

Looking back on our week we’re recalling this very special moment. Children light up our world and inspire us daily. This kind girl, for her birthday, asked for donations that would support the SPCA Cincinnati!! We thank her and her parents for sharing her big day with our shelter! 🫶

Zodiac did so well on her #PawPassAdventure and left such a good impression that her new family decided to make it official! We love that for them. It works! Take a chance and give a deserving companion animal a break from the shelter, if for only a couple hours. 🥹#TheyJustMightRescueYou ✨ thanks for making this adoption possible @TQLogistics.

SPCA Cincinnati is proud to announce its current recipient of the Pawsitive Impact Microgrant Program — a $1,000 investment — in support of the dedicated work of Purrfect Friends Cat Rescue. Jessica, Donna, and their team are committed to finding the perfect matches for cats and their humans, and have been so since 2005. Today, we discussed the importance of collaboration in our industry for this shared cause. Many animal welfare agencies are small and entirely volunteer-run. Hearing directly from Purrfect Friends Cat Rescue this afternoon filled us with gratitude, reassuring us that we are heading in the right direction as a community. Purrfect Friends Cat Rescue is a volunteer-run, nonprofit 501c3 organization. With over 5,600 cats adopted, they work to combat cat overpopulation and suffering in the Cincinnati area. Their efforts include rescuing cats in need, assisting with spaying and neutering, providing high quality medical care, and supporting Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) initiatives. What’s more, they are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership. The $1,000 microgrant will strengthen their daily efforts and provide more cats with the second chance they deserve! SPCA Cincinnati believes a humane community requires partnership — not competition. The Pawsitive Impact Microgrant Program exists to strengthen the broader ecosystem of care across Greater Cincinnati. Applications for microgrants (up to $1,000 per award) are open on a rolling basis for eligible animal welfare organizations serving Greater Cincinnati. Details here: spcacincinnati.org/pawsitiveimpact Together, we keep building!
