@Winter_Six @SamTheSeed I hope it goes well. But, as Russia learned, no matter how well an equipment is built, it must still be effective in theater. The world buys from the US because they make the best. China builds a lot too, but on field it's proven to not be that competitive.

@SamTheSeed @somspouvoir Yes, they have a base. However without funding to increase production at scale plus energy to back it up and of course R&D, it'll take years if not decades. Look at Turkey doing what you're saying. It's proving horribly difficult and they're not a small power.

What, the UK will cut NHS funding to build new aircraft carriers? Scale needs funding and energy, two things they lack. It's why they're having to pool together to build FCAS (not FACS as I previously stated). They don't have it.

@SamTheSeed @somspouvoir These things are great but they're both 4.5 gen aircraft, not true 5th gen fighters. Last year India/Pakistan displayed how vulnerable 4.5 gen is in a contested airspace. The European 5th gen fighter is the F-35. They cannot do what you're asking, sir.

@SamTheSeed @Winter_Six Do people no understand how China came to dominate manufacturing? Europe, like the US, destroyed its manufacturing base. Even worse for Europe, the whole green energy craze led them to destroy their energy too. A defense industry needs a strong manufacturing base.

@alpha_dweeb @Winter_Six I think the opposite is true,the odds favouring the EU.They can focus on European defence and defence industry without being forced to buy overpriced arms.They'll gain the ''independence'' they've been yearning for. It's a lesson too,you can't just start wars when you feel like.

The Entebbe Raid did not weaken Amin's rule. Amin remained in power for a further 3 years, if anything his position reinforced. Nor did Museveni overthrow him. It was the Tanzanian army that overthrew him (with limited support from some Ugandans like M7). Nor did M7 take over after Amin's fall. Lule, Binaisa and Obote II came first and M7 only took over after the Bush war. Support for Israel in Uganda comes from the fact that Israel was widely recognized as being on the side on good against a tyrant. I recall the excited crowds on Kampala road on July 4th 1976 who thought (mistakenly) the events at Entebbe the night before presaged the end of Amin.
