Successive British Governments will rue the day that this Chinese intimidation station was given planning approval. A Judicial Review needs to be brought swiftly, to challenge the soundness of this decision.

There is no ethical or rational foundation for “historical reparations” — for anyone. To accept this flawed concept is to abandon reason, warp morality & twist the basis of responsibility. Rather than indulge in radical ideology, the CoE should support its schools & churches.
Katie Lam@Katie_Lam_MP

The Church of England plans to spend £100 million on slavery reparations. As I wrote for @TheCriticMag, this is morally wrong, legally wrong, and based on a factually wrong account of history. The Church should be proud of helping to end slavery, not peddling divisive myths.

When will Britain get serious about defending its national security? Nothing justifies the risk of this Embassy. We must keep the Chinese far, far away from our strategic national infrastructure — not just our data cables, but also our energy, transport & telecommunications.

After 14 months of campaigning and over 300K petition signatures, the government have just been forced into a u-turn on on the Family Farm Tax. But the job isn’t done. This is only a partial u-turn. Only the Conservatives will fully reverse the Family Farm Tax.

We need a leaner, more effective state. One that does less, but does it well. To achieve this, the Conservatives need a bold plan of Whitehall reform — a programme to weed out the arms-length bodies and regulatory barriers that frustrate ministerial decisions and delay delivery.

Delaying the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Mayoral election is an affront to democracy. This is blatant party-political manipulation to avoid democratic accountability. The Government is treating our residents with contempt. We deserve better than this. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

This. 100% this. No Minister — & no Judge — should be able to deprive a citizen of their freedom without judgement by their peers. There is no justification for abandoning Juries. None. If this administration trashes our ancient liberties, the @Conservatives will restore them.
Iain Martin@iainmartin1

Eroding trial by jury is a terrible idea even in the best of circumstances, but now, in a populist era, would be extremely dangerous. If judges gain even more power, a future government will become very, very interested in their appointment. What could possibly go wrong?

The real question is why we provide benefits to non-British citizens in the first place. A country with £2.8tn of debt cannot continue paying welfare to foreign nationals. We need to reform welfare eligibility to prioritise those it was founded to support — our fellow citizens.
Neil O'Brien@NeilDotObrien

Given that 16% of those on Universal Credit are not UK citizens, the end of the two child limit tomorrow will mean a big benefit payout for around 72,500 households of foreign nationals.

Abolition — or even a supposedly “temporary suspension” — would represent an unforgivable assault on our most basic liberties as British citizens. This is a line that we must not cross as a nation. It would be an attack on our very soul.
Cllr Samuel Carr 🇬🇧@SamuelDCarr

The right to Trial by Jury is a critical protection & balance within our justice system. It acts as a check on Judicial & Executive power, while upholding fairness & maintaining public confidence. It’s fundamental to what it means to be British. We cannot abandon this right.

We must keep the two-child benefit cap. This is about fairness. It’s wrong that families on benefits are exempt from the choices made by those who work. Rather than hiking taxes to bloat the welfare state with warped incentives, let’s build a dynamic economy that rewards work.

“It’s a matter of fairness” Shadow chancellor Mel Stride defends the two-child benefit cap and says “if you want a much larger family, then I think individual responsibility should come into play” #BBCLauraK bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00…
