Fracasa la estrategia de Pedro Sánchez de liderar la resistencia de occidente contra Trump. Hace apenas unos días parecía que Trump se había quedado prácticamente solo en su presión para reabrir el Estrecho de Ormuz tras los ataques y el bloqueo iraní. Pedro Sánchez y el Gobierno español habían conseguido posicionarse como líderes de una "resistencia europea" al alinearse con una postura crítica hacia la guerra EE.UU.-Israel contra Irán: prohibiendo el uso de las bases de Rota y Morón para operaciones estadounidenses, rechazando cualquier participación militar en la zona y defendiendo que el no a la guerra. Incluso se hablaba de que Sánchez estaba "triunfando" en aislar a Washington de Europa, con varios países (como Alemania, Italia o Grecia) mostrando reticencias a sumarse a misiones navales o a respaldar acciones directas. La estrategia parecía funcionar: Trump enfurecido, amenazas de embargo comercial contra España, salida de aviones estadounidenses de nuestras bases... y un coro europeo que parecía inclinarse hacia la desescalada y la crítica a la "guerra unilateral". Pero en la última hora todo ha cambiado drásticamente. Reino Unido, Francia, Alemania, Italia, Países Bajos y Japón acaban de emitir una declaración conjunta oficial que marca un giro brutal: - Condenan "en los términos más enérgicos" los ataques iraníes contra buques comerciales desarmados, infraestructuras civiles (incluidas instalaciones de petróleo y gas) y el cierre de facto del Estrecho de Ormuz. - Exigen a Irán que cese inmediatamente amenazas, colocación de minas, ataques con drones/misiles y cualquier bloqueo al tráfico comercial. - Expresan su "disponibilidad explícita" para contribuir a esfuerzos que garanticen el paso seguro por el estrecho. - Anuncian medidas para estabilizar los mercados energéticos globales (liberación de reservas estratégicas de petróleo y aumento de producción en otros países). Esta alianza deja a España completamente fuera. No figura en el comunicado, ni se menciona su participación. Mientras estos seis países (potencias clave en Europa y Asia) dan un paso al frente alineándose con la necesidad de asegurar la navegación y respaldar indirectamente la presión sobre Irán, Madrid se queda aislado en su postura más dura de rechazo total. Es un golpe diplomático durísimo para la estrategia de Sánchez: lo que parecía un frente europeo unido contra Trump se ha roto en cuestión de horas. La libertad de navegación (por donde pasa ~20% del petróleo mundial) pesa más que las reticencias iniciales, y los aliados clave han optado por no dejar que el régimen iraní dicte las reglas del juego energético global. It is time to open a path towards de-escalation in order to restore stability in the Middle East. France calls for the immediate implementation of a moratorium on strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, whether related to water or to energy. Freedom and security of navigation must be restored. Every major European power looked at the Strait of Hormuz and decided the 21-mile waterway that carries one fifth of global LNG supply was someone else’s problem. European TTF gas prices surged 50 to 85 percent after Qatar’s Ras Laffan was struck. Spot LNG prices jumped 40 to 60 percent. The EU must inject roughly 60 billion cubic metres into storage by December to hit its 90 percent refill target. That target was set before the world’s largest LNG facility was hit by Iranian missiles. The refill arithmetic just changed and the continent that refused to send a warship now needs to find gas at record prices from a market it chose not to defend. Non-participation does not mean non-exposure. Europe’s logic is fiscal, political, and strategic. Post-Ukraine debt makes another military commitment unaffordable. Voters have war fatigue. India accelerated the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor.
