So a 3rd visit in 3 wks to ED for my darling @OckendenPhoebe. I was away on holidays & with her learning disabilities the NHS FAILED to give her safe care: 7 hrs in a chair/ seizures / 1 set of vital signs/no medication/ no medical review. Until I raised the roof! Disgusted! 😡😡

@SarahKay39 @FeedingAlliance @drruthannharpur @acadofideas ...about breastfeeding reducing the risk of breast cancer it triggers me as not only did my daughter die a totally preventable death, I'm apparently now at higher risk of breast cancer. Great! Makes me very fucking angry.

It’s #WorldCerebralPalsy day. Cerebral Palsy affects Heidi in lots of ways - and for her sake I wish it didn’t. However, it doesn’t affect her sense of humour, her level of sass, or her ability to light up the room. 💚💚💚 @PeepsHie

So often, as parents to a child with complex medical needs, we’re told self care is important - “have a long bath”, “book a weekend away”, “find a hobby you enjoy”….we don’t have time, & we’re often too stressed! It’s important, and small changes are definitely the way to go ☺️

The one thing that would make the biggest difference to maternity safety is encouraging women to voice their concerns, then taking them seriously and acting. I'm stunned that not only is Royal Surrey maternity not doing that, but they're dressing it up as an *affirmation*!?

@catherineroyuk I wish we had had more information about when things don’t go to plan - not about scaring families, but informing and preparing, giving choices. Maybe things would have been different I had known more.

Antenatal classes are a middle man that is totally unnecessary, incl. NHS ones. The truth is that healthcare professionals owe us all the info about our pregnancy & birth. Classes are only what is deemed we should know. They're not healthcare. And many give misinformation.

My NCT experienced summed up in a birth plan. NCT is advertised as if they have all the answers but realistically all they did was scare me away from actual healthcare and push a pretty dangerous narrative that my body was able to look after my baby properly. 1/2

This rose is called “Heidi Peeps”, a gift a couple of years ago and miraculously it has survived another winter. I’m not green-fingered so pretty happy with If it’s all getting a bit much (politics!), trying a moment to appreciate the things around 💐

@JamesTitcombe We asked 3 times if H was ok. 3 times she can’t have been. On the 4th she was taken to be resuscitated. I struggle to understand, parents should be listened to, always, and in the situations where everything is ok, reassurance and an explanation of why would be helpful.

@NCTcharity It was almost 9 years ago, we have found support elsewhere. I did reach out via email on the 7th May 2020 and the 30th June 2021 but sadly didn’t hear back. You state you are “the UK’s leading charity for parents” and I would very much like to know what this is based on.
