Very exciting week for Sawitzki Lab! 🎉 We’ve moved into brand-new lab spaces at the Rahel Hirsch Center for Translational Medicine (BIH & Charité). Plus, we’ve made the leap to Bluesky where you will find us under the same handle! 🚀

A great collaborative effort by Birgit Sawitzki, Lev Petrov, @woodernrobo, Sophia Brumhard, Philipp Georg @phige21, Anna Hiller, Leif Erik Sander @Sander_Lab, Nils Blüthgen @molsysbio, @RalserLab, @ewyler, @robuelow, @rosasta_g and many others!

We analyzed patients who had type I IFN autoantibodies. They showed the most extreme phenotype. We even detected similar shift in signaling in young (ISGs) and adult hamsters (S100A genes) infected with COVID-19, suggesting that we discovered a general aging-induced concept.

Biomarker, diagnostic studies and clinical trials The #NKSG is conducting in-depth analysis of potential biomarkers and diagnostics for both #LongCovid and #MECFS. In addition, 5 treatment trials are expected to conclude by the end of 2024. More trials are currently in planning.

NKSG website now available in English Details on the National Clinical Studies Group (#NKSG) for #MECFS & #LongCovid are now available in English: cfc.charite.de/en/clinical_re… @BMBF_Bund has been funding the group with €10m since late 2022, with another €8m approved for 2025-26.
